Oct-29-07  joebuck: I hope Chessgames add games soon. Pgn-files from the first two rounds available here: http://www.greekchess.com/euro2007/...
Oct-29-07  joebuck: Ahh.. the second pgn file was just the live games.
Oct-29-07  notyetagm: <Koni: Now the games for Round 2 have finished, I predict Round 3 pairings on the top boards will be:

...

Spain(3)-Israel(4)>

Oh my! That would mean Shirov vs Sutovsky!

Oct-29-07  JYMMI: Second round finished. Morozevich got a victory :), Topalov draw his game.
Oct-29-07  rhedrich: Can anyone tell me when round 3 starts, and if it will be available to be watched live? I haven't seen a live chess game between 2 top tier players since kasparov faced a computer on ESPN years ago.

Oct-29-07  rhedrich: 9:30 tomorrow? Cool, thanks for the link too.
Oct-29-07  cannibal: The world's coolest chess nation, Iceland, scored an upset 3-1 win against Poland today.
Oct-29-07  Xaurus: Here is the Wales team-report from R2 vs Norway.

http://www.welshchessunion.co.uk/ht...

Oct-29-07  Marmot PFL: What is wrong wtih France? they were routed by Slovenia.
Oct-30-07  Microdot: highest achieved rating for GM Morozevich is 2762 and there for He must be at third on the PARTICIPANTS list Topalov,Svidler,Morozevich and then Aronian.
In my opinion CG is an A H.
Oct-30-07  Microdot: Here is the link for Morozevich's highest achieved rating:

http://www.fide.com/ratings/top_fil... Please go to this link and look at Top 100 Players April 2007 list. GM Morozevich's highest achieved rating is 2762 and Aronian's highest achieved rating is 2761. I do'nt trust to this site any more.
CG is an A H

Oct-30-07  Microdot: Fide.com is a real site it is because
Fide is World Chess Federation,

In my opinion Fide is a real site!!
CG is an A H

Oct-30-07  TheGladiatres: From Chessdom:

NORWAY - WALES 4:0
Norway, who yesterday lost 2,5:1,5 to Spain, ran over the team of Wales. With a 4:0 score Norway got back in the competition and for sure will aim at the first places.

---
Norway got an OK team, but to aim for first place with two IM's might be a bit much :P

Oct-30-07  joebuck: Board pairings for round 3: http://www.chess-results.com/Tnr833...

Some potentially good matches:
Svidler - Navara
Morozevich - Laznicka
Mamedyarov - Heine Nilsen
Sutovsky - Ivanchuk (Chucky back in play!)
Roiz - Karjakin

IM Ragger and GM Djukic (both 2528) gets a taste of the elite vs Aronian and Topalov respectively.

Also, Grischuk is playing third board for Russia instead of Alekseev.

Oct-30-07  pawnofdoom: <Microdot> Isn't that a little strict? CG just hasn't gotten around to updating certain ratings. They're close enough. There are thousands of players in this databae, with tons more being added everyday. CG is working hard enough. If you really hate the fact that the top ratings aren't updated already, why don't you go and suggest a bunch of corrections to those pages?
Oct-30-07  hovik2003: Anybody doesn't like how ChessGames doing in the various fields of chess activities, he is free to use that lame and obsolete FIDE official site. Little gratefulness is big virtue.
Oct-30-07  gmgomes: Yesterday, Ukraine without Chucky only managed a draw against Spain. With Chucky back I think Ukraine will beat Israel with a good score. (Israel would be much stronger if Gelfand were there)
Oct-30-07  gmgomes: it is funny that both Aronian and Chucky played the Berlin.
Oct-30-07  firebyrd: <Microdot> The highest achieved rating is the highest recorded in the database games. If you think any of these are entered with the wrong rating just find it and tell CG and I am sure they will correct it. If you think there are relevant tournaments missing from the database, get the pgn and submit them, my guess is that CG would be glad to have them. In short, if you don't like the way the site is, feel free to help improve, or feel free to go someplace else.

OTOH, for the record, Moro's april rating 2762 is in fact reflected in the database, eg from the Bosna tournament, such as this game against Short: Short vs Morozevich, 2007

Yet this doesn't show up on his player profile Alexander Morozevich in a "Highest rating" entry, like for instance Levon Aronian and most other has. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is also missing this entry in his profile, and Moro and Shak seems to be sorted according to their current rating rather than their historical best. Extremely unimportant, I know, but yet there might be a bug here that <CG> might want to check out ...

Oct-30-07  Harvestman: Shame to see a quick draw for Morozevich today. He might have been tired after the wild game he played yesterday, and the final position today didn't seem to offer much. The fireworks will have to come from someone else today.

20. Nhf5

Oct-30-07  ArmeniaNL: armenian team is doing not so good against austria, all the games are almost draw, I expected 3.5-0.5 result.

something is wrong there

Oct-30-07  Harvestman: Wow, have a look at Ivan Ivanesevic castling long against Tiviakov. The only pawn anywhere near where the black king finishes is an advanced white one!
Oct-30-07  rhedrich: Am I the only one watching Ivanchuk getting outplayed as white? He must've expected 18...fxg6 instead of RxRh1, in which case he would've gotten rid of the queen defender, swapped off both rooks, and recaptured the g6 pawn, leaving the remaining g-pawn isolated. But now he's getting dominated. 21.Rf6! ensures an advantage, and I'm betting Black undoubles his pawns in the next three moves.
