Nov-11-09  jeremy24: Bg3 loses now in light of Re4!
Nov-11-09  malthrope: <achieve: <Mal> Yes - just read it ;) Thanks! - busy here with dinner and this thrilling endgame... Kramnik is having trouble finding the right plan it seems atm, or he is just "taking his time" and you may be right...>

Hehehe... Well, he just has to win the 'h-pawn' first... And, then we can start <counting> down! ~lol~ At least until finally the 'h-pawn' is boldly sacrificed to produce the winning endgame position! ;)

Nov-11-09  Ulhumbrus: It looks as if Kramnik has attained his zugzwang after all.
Nov-11-09  Karpova: Yes, Kramnik found the winning move (all others draw)
Nov-11-09  achieve: Well done Kramnik!

<Mal> You win the double whammy! ;)

Nov-11-09  kb2ct:

Pono is mated. Not easy to see but Kramnik is like a tablebase.

:0)

Nov-11-09  A Karpov Fan: amazing play by Big Vlad so far, does he meet Anand again in this tournament?
Nov-11-09  dakgootje: nice win for Kramnik, began having doubts whether he would find the win :P
Nov-11-09  waustad: Impressive.
Nov-11-09  Karpova: <A Karpov Fan: amazing play by Big Vlad so far, does he meet Anand again in this tournament?>

No, everyone plays each other just once

Nov-11-09  jeremy24: Phenomenal technique after a very tactical game this is a real testament to Kramnik's ability. To be able to switch from a highly tactical game to precision endgame technique is beyond commendable. Kudos Kramnik!
Nov-11-09  karnak64: Lovely final position. Karmnik seems to be back in championship form.
Nov-11-09  beenthere240: It't not whether he would "find" the win -- he had to force the right position. He was like a machine.
Nov-11-09  Ulhumbrus: The winning resource makes use of two things (1) Black's B is deprived of the square f2 as that allows the fork Rf4+ and (2) The Rook placed on the fourth rank does the work of White's King by tying the bishop to the defence of the h4 pawn.
Nov-11-09  A Karpov Fan: right, thanks :-)

chancho: Kramnik has oodles of technique.
Nov-11-09  DEEPERGRAY: a few more wins like this and we might have to call him "winik"
Nov-11-09  badest: Wow ... impressive to force that position! Kramnik is heading for 2800 ...
Nov-11-09  zarg: Nice zugzwang, M1 or h pawn falls!

And thanks for the broadcast!

Nov-11-09  malthrope: <achieve: Well done Kramnik!

<Mal> You win the double whammy! ;)>

:)))

It appears that by studying these unique endgames that you don't have to wonder what to do? You know <exactly> what to do! <grin> ;)

Check It Out: That's an amazing final position.
Nov-11-09  Eyal: <Pyke> Since Kramnik is the sole leader now, I guess they have no choice but to show Aronian-Kramnik...

Hmmm, this Kramnik seems to be a very good tactical player, but maybe he shouldn't take such risks in the opening all the time and build himself a more solid repertoire.

Nov-11-09  Bdellovibrio: It wasn't an amazing endgame when against just anyone. It was a win in the endgame against <Ponomariov>, who has been hailed as an endgame meistro par excellance.
