Dec-26-11  spawn2: Rest in Peace NM Boy Maga. You will be missed by the Philippine Chess community.
Dec-26-11  Birthday Boy: I'm so sad that he passed i used to take lessons from him. I remember our first game we played a sicilian game, he used a smith-morra gambit against me. I accepted it, and quickly loss and the second game is i played against his Marshall Attack and loss quicky again. He used shared his experiences in his chess career and other things about chess. He used to tell that GM Torre is a very humble guy. Mirabeau Maga is a nice guy.

I just can't believe it, he passed away at that young age, i'm really sad...

Rest in Peace Master Mirabeau Maga =(

Dec-26-11  Birthday Boy: Thank you <spawn2> for telling here
Dec-26-11  pinoymaster77: Condolence to the family of NM Mirabeau Maga, there was a time probably at the height of his playing career that he had a string of local tournament wins.

In the last years, saw him at a local chess club and reading about his lectures and also about his teachings to his students...

Rest in peace, NM Maga

Apr-08-12  rjsolcruz: Mirabeu "Maging" Maga, NM, RIP

Mags, as I used to call him, is a very unassuming and simple man. Madalas mag-text sa akin yan; nangungumusta, nagpapadala ng mga inspirational messages, bumabati kapag may occassion at laging nagbo-volunteer na i-training si Rhal, ang anak ko.

He has done a lot of events for Meralco simuls and lessons sa mga players namin. I say that he is instrumental in our winning the bronze in the 1st MVPO and the silver in the 2nd MVPO.

And in our winning another bronze and finally a gold in the 3rd MVPO this year, kahit wala na si Mags sa training ng team, I feel that his spirit is still with us and guided us in our games. Thanks Mags!

Feb-02-19  zanzibar: This obit lists him as being 52-yo when he died. Is that simply incorrect?

(What's <CG>'s source for his dob?)

Too bad <FIDE> deletes deceased player's cards, we could otherwise quickly check there.
