perfidious: In 1987, Alex and I played the under-2400 section at the New York Open; his first-round opponent was a little girl with a teddy bear, and she rolled him up.

We now know her well as Judith Polgar.

RookFile: I remember Alex telling that story to Harry Lyman at the Boylston chess club. He showed the game too - something about a discovered attack leading to bad news on the king's rook file.

RookFile: Well, I guess this picture answers the question somebody was asking in the Larry Christianson forum about whether Larry is still playing these days.
