Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-17-05  Edwin Meyer: According to a website Nijboer's biggest problem seems to be dealing with timetrouble. If he can overcome that he is considered to be a formidable opponent.
Dec-20-05  DeepBlade: Maybe because he likes to think, just like Kasparov ;)
May-26-07  whiteshark: Van harte gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag!

May-26-08  brankat: Happy Birthday GM Nijboer!
May-26-08  Alphastar: A very notable game: Rublevsky vs Nijboer, 2006 This win granted the netherlands a 2.5-1.5 win over russia in the olympiad (all other games were drawn).
May-26-08  brankat: <Alphastar> Let me guess, You must be from the Netherlands.

Since You are still a relatively "new" member here, You may not be aware of some prominent Dutch kibitzers at this site :-)

<achieve>, <lostemperor>, <stonehenge>, <sitzkrieg>, <dakgootje>.

I'm sure there are others, too, just can't remember at he moment.

There's <nescio> and <rinus> -- and I'm sure many more, who's names escape me at the moment ;-)

May-26-08  Nikita Smirnov: Happy Birthday Friso Nijboer!!

Mar-21-09  WhiteRook48: somehow the computer tells me that I've been at this page before
Mar-21-09  Gryz: You might have had a look at Nijboer's games because of a game he played last week in the european championship.

Motylev vs Nijboer, 2009

A nice attacking game where Nijboer beat Motylev while playing the black pieces.

BTW, Nijboer finished 12th or so at the european championships last week. And that qualified him to play in the upcoming World Cup.

Aug-16-12  Gryz: I don't see Nijboer playing in any tournaments where other Dutch players are playing. And the chessgames.com database only has games by Friso from 2011 and earlier.

Is Friso still playing chess ?

Oct-25-12  waustad: <Gryz>If you want to see a favorite player, you have to be more proactive. It may take a while, but look here: PGN Upload Utility . If you can find games you want to see here, go ahead and submit them. Be sure that you have a good png file (I've been fooled before) and check that it isn't already here. I often use chess-results.com, but that works better for Austrian players than some others. It is a start. If the player in question plays in a league, look there. It will probably help a lot of you speak Dutch.
