Nikola Spiridonov was awarded the IM title in 1970 and the GM title in 1979. He won the Bulgarian Championship in 1969 (after a play-off). His best tournament results include equal firsts at Polanica-Zdroj 1971 and Varna 1974.

Jun-21-23  ColdSong: I remember Nikola Spiridonov.Long time ago when I was a beginner he accepted to blitz with me.He patiently explained me how not to lose a central pawn.He was peaceful and kind,I have a warm memory of him.Rip Grandmaster.
