| | Troller: The Tal Memorial 2016 was the classical Moscow Tournament organized by the Russian Chess Federation. That tournament has had different names over the years I believe. I do not think the RCF has anything to do with this event, so no need to compare them. |

(still need the venue and some supplies - no boards nor pieces necessary though, as these big shots should be able to play blind-folded?!) 2. Same name, np, but pl. specify - even understood that Tal won't mind any more... but, in modern times, from a legal standpoint, there might be issues of doing that. |

Accidents, or special permission by the Arbiter under some circumstances, etc are not counted. The point is kind of semantic wrangling... if what's said contradicts the ruling, then ?? Thought that's obvious, e.g. some movie may carry the title "Dying Twice!!" or "Born Again" -- my make up, such things might come up (if not past, present, then must be in future?) Unless scientists discover there's actually some time NONE OF THE ABOVE (LOL again!!) |

But on the whole, the <CG> saying is a little dumb. People enjoy the occasional dumb humor round these parts. The puns are proof positive of this. (As far as time travel goes, despite Kip Thorne's and other's work, I'm inclined to think it not possible. It certainly messes up causality, at the very least.) |

There, the capo told/taught his son in front of his mom: "It's ok doing that, if you're not caught." Same "logic?" -- Murder with no one caught is not murder, or, per your dictum: "illegal moves become legal if not corrected in time." Indeed, so many (Human) mistakes + errors committed... and repeated...with the "help" of this odd occurrence -- they're not corrected in time. |

A better statement, drawing a legal parallel, is that an illegal move on the chessboard is subject to a statue of limitation. So it might always have been an illegal move, but at some point it isn't subject to prosecution. As for the murder analogy, it clearly doesn't apply, because murderous offenses are never subject to a statue of limitation. I haven't really thought too much about felonies vs misdemeanors on the chessboard. (Well, other than the grievousness of my own blunders, that is.) |

Maybe we need some heavy weight attorneys to drill into the "statues" and "limitations" of the current version of chess rules, for even as simple the legality of castling!! It's certainly beyond me, both in resources and time, to dig into that. But raising such "issue" certainly widen my scope of chess - much more than chess!! Probably as many lawyers talked about Rule of Law (or maybe even more on top of that...for that logic to expand and evolve? revolve? or convolute??) |

In fact I have always thought that this tournament should be of category XX and up. However I also think that the Tal is an opportunity for the young FMs and IMs to gain norms and improve their level of playing. Just my opinion. |

Yet sad, enough, all hinges on the loot, and I saw other Memorials, for either Capa or Alek also fall into such lower echelons. On Contrary, look at Tata Steel, Sinquefeld, or the latest Grand Tour... they attract the top guns. WHY?? The loot!! (& also the ladder!! -- get the point?!) |
