Oct-09-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: My GOD, <jamesmaskell> NEVER drink Oranjeboom! Really, at most student parties they serve that, it's really discusting!!! I hadn't try that till a week or two ago,I felt ill for two days after having been drinking Oranjeboom for one night. Damn. |
Oct-09-06 | | jamesmaskell: lol. Thankfully with the World Cup came Stella and Kronenberg...out went Oranjeboom. We just had to cope with it until the World Cup. All is well now... I think we got it because it was cheap. It cost 2.20 a pint, much lower than a pint of Stella...it shows! |

Oct-11-06 | | ganstaman: <WannaBe> At first I thought that ruining your pawn structure was bad, but then when I saw how it ended up, I was much happier. I'm not so great at endgames, but I would have made a run for the queenside. That allows you to neutralize his threat before going on the offensive, in a sense. Also, if you removed a center pawn, your pawns would have no obstacles. So, I would have probably played 25...Ke6. Remember, though, I don't know if this is good advice or not. |
Oct-11-06 | | ganstaman: I was playing on FICS earlier and got a King's Gambit in (I'm still sort of new to it, but it's definitely a lot of fun, forces you to keep focused). It was 7 minute blitz, which makes the KG work even better (enough time to think some of the fireworks through, but not so much that you can't both fall into traps). I'm curious as to what computers think about white's 12th move. My computer probably runs very slow (especially with so much running on it), and I only have the free version of Rybka, but it came up with 12. e5 at 13 ply with a score of +0.86. I then make my actual move (12. Bxg5), and after 14 ply, it gives me a +1.21 score. Horizon effect? Anyway, I just love being down two pieces for some pawns and still ending up with the computer favoring my position (in the analysis of certain moves, as the game went, my second piece sac should have lost it for me :( ). Oct-13-06 | | Akavall: <As Topalov resigned in the final game, Kramnik stood up and celebrated his victory by clutching his hands above his head, as his team erupted in joyful cheers. "We are planning to get drunk with my friends today," he said. > http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6...
I would too!
I am also glad to see major news agencies report on the result of the Chess World Championship. |
Oct-13-06 | | jamesmaskell: Hope he gets completely rat arsed tonight. Its been such a struggle for him and hes made it to the top of the food chain. With all the upcoming talent as well as the established contenders, chess has a very rosy future! |

Oct-13-06 | | technical draw: You are all wrong, Danailov plans on getting sober today. |
Oct-13-06 | | Rocafella: Kramnik, do the honourable thing. Buy Mr Topalov a pint. It is customary to buy one's opponent a drink, when the game has been played at a high level of competitiveness and sportsmanship. Oh, wait, this wasn't the case. Instead Vladmir, get tanked on the good ale you so richly deserve, and buy Mr Topalov a non-alcoholic beverage for this annoys men to the highest. A non alcoholic beverage will also help Mr Topalov stay sober... This is important, as look what Mr Topalov brought home last time he was inebriated (Danailov) |
