Qd2 Zwischenzug would have avoided losing a Pawn, instead 12. bxc3 Qxc3+ and Black was better, RRB vs RRB endgame where White walked into mate for 0-1.

M) Sicilian Sveshnikov, 9. Bc4?! bad idea since Black wins a piece with 9 ... b5 & 10 ... b4, White got out of it with 9 ... 0-0 10. 0-0 b5 11. Bd5 and gave up Pawn (14. c7 Qxc7 15. Nd5), Black had potent battery against g2, White defended well but forgot about battery and got mated.

P) Ruy Lopez 5. 0-0 Bc5!?, discussed Open vs Closed at length, Black lost a piece with 6. c3 Nxe4?! 7. d4 b5 8. Bc2 ed 9. cd Nxf2, missed threat against h7 and White won quickly.

M) Sicilian Accelerated Dragon, Black missed 8 ... Qxb2 winning a piece, instead doubled c Pawns and Queens off, Black dropped Rh8 for nothing, White couldn't extricate the Bishop from the corner, eventually down piece and 0-1.

P) Modern Defense 4. Bc4 Nf6 5. Nc3, even middlegame until Black won Pd5, White had isolated Pe4 but saved it, Black dropped exchange to Zwischenzug (35. Nxe8+) and White converted R vs N endgame.

M) Blackmar-Diemer Gambit with 6 ... Bg4, sacrificed N for 2 Pawns, White trapped Queen with 20. Bg5 leading to 20 ... Bxf3 21. Bxf6 Bxh1 22. Bh4?! Bg2 23. Qe1:

M) Ruy Lopez Cordel, 4. 0-0 d6, consider 5. d4 over 5. Nc3, White won Ph6 due to Nf6 (14. Bxh6!), Queens off, then White won second Pawn on d6, blundered Bishop due to pin on Rg1 so NK vs K, great chances to draw by liquidating Pawns, instead Black retained Pg7 and won.

P) Evans Gambit, Black safe after 7. Re1 0-0, 10. Nxd4!? Qh4 won Pawn, 16 ... Bxh3! much quicker (Undefended Kingside) than 16 ... Ne5, won exchange and traded Queens for 0-1.

M) Bishop's Opening 3. d3 Nf6 4. f4 Nc6, Black lost Pawn by omitting 6 ... d6, won Pe5 due to pin, 13 ... Re8 much better than 13 ... Nf6 14. Bg5, White dropped Bc4 & Ne4 for 0-1.

P) QGD Slav, Black had IQP, consider ... Ne4 lines over game continuation, White won exchange due to skewer (Bc5/Qd6/Rf8) and quickly 1-0.

M) Saragossa Opening, J Benjamin vs Fedorowicz, 1988 , Black had outstanding development, White chose KIA set-up, key choice after 17. b5 and discussed how 17 ... Nb8 followed by 18 ... Nbd7 would be best given position, Black won a piece from pin on Nd2 and traded both sets of Rooks for 0-1.

Nc6, 22. a4) but 22. Qb2? lost a piece to 22 ... Ng4, still R4P vs RBP which should have drawn but White erred and 0-1.

M) Giuoco Piano 3. Bc4 d6 4. Nc3 Be6, White established strong Nd5 and weakened Black's Kingside Pawns but both sides 0-0-0 into even game, White dropped piece from 23 ... Qe4 fork on Rh1 & Nd5, got exchange back with 25. Ng6, later 28. Qa5 Nc6? 29. Qc7+ Ka8 30. Qxb7# 1-0.

P) Sicilian Kan, Black wrecked White's Queenside Pawns into level middlegame with Queens off, Black activated Rooks deep and won a Pawn, White played well to trade into equal RP endgame and 1/2.

M) Modern Defense, reviewed Austrian Attack, interesting tactic involving Nf6 & Nbd7, White traded to win a Pawn and Black unexpectedly resigned.

P) Colle, good development as Black, White missed 14. Ng5 g6 15. Qh4 h5 weakening the dark squares, promising exchange sacrifice 20. Rxf6!? won 2 Pawns and soon won Queen for QN vs RR and 1-0.

M) Petrov with boring 5. Qe2, White won Pc7 (10. Nb5 0-0? 11. Nxc7), White soon won Pa7 and should have won exchange (17 ... Rfc8?! 18. Nxc8), nice Knight fork on d5 to win exchange anyway, ended suddenly when Black missed back rank tactic 31 ... Re8? (31 ... Nf8 32. Rdh1 Ng6) 32. Rdh1!:
