As for being up to date, I just uploaded some Daniel Harrwitz games from 1852. Try and find them on any other site.

Susan Freeman: I do not want memes to be part of CG’s culture.

saffuna: A positive side effect of that is that it's possible to see many more posts on the same page, twenty or thirty, rather than five or ten if graphics were prominent.

Plus we don't have to look at offensive images unless we want to.

OhioChessFan: To the tune of Dancing Queen-Abba

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ij...

Ooh you can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that gif
Have to look
Digging the dancing Rook

CGC, all the games are done
Seems like you’re the only one
Who celebrates forever
Getting in the mood
Some people think you’re rude
Anybody could beat that guy!
Knight is less and the Queen's too high
With a bit of java type
You create the hype
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing Rook

Old and gray
Never went away
Dancing Rook
Feel the heat from the loser’s team, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that gif
Have to look
Digging the dancing Rook

You're a pleaser, you turn 'em on
Leave 'em laughing and then you're gone
Looking out for another
Any game will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance
You are the dancing Rook

Old and gray
Never went away
Dancing Rook
Feel the heat from the loser’s team, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that gif
Have to look
Digging the dancing Rook
Digging the dancing Rook

Dec-12-21  George Wallace: Well, I suppose if we think of <CG> as an old folks home, it makes sense.

Susan Freeman: My current mission is trying to preserve the Chessgames tradition but updating it to the new servers and technology. It is a tedious and rewarding task.

Susan Freeman: Think of Chessgames as a museum of fine art.
Dec-12-21  George Wallace: I think of it as Myspace with a database of chess games. It's an old folks home for people afraid to change at all.

Reminds me of my uncle. It was year 2010 before he finally got a microwave oven.

Last night, I fixed the previews for keyboard inputs by Europeans. My own testing showed it was working, and <Tabanus> has confirmed.

Tabanus: To be more specific, confirmed by my "hp" (Hewlett Packard?) keyboard which has "Made in China" on it.

Btw it has been working for months now :)

beatgiant: By <European> I meant the keyboards with Latin script and extended Latin characters. If you want to input in Greek, Russian, Armenian etc. you still need to use another input technique, for example a virtual keyboard such as the ones here: https://gate2home.com/
Dec-13-21  George Wallace: Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at chess@chessgames.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Apache/2.4.41 (Ubuntu) Server atwww.chessgames.com Port 443

Dec-13-21  George Wallace: This recurring internal server error makes the website almost unusable.

I've had to hit the reload button 5-10 times every time I go to a new page or try to post a comment.

Pretty third-world.

beatgiant: <George Wallace> I gave the server a whack and it's stopped happening for the last 10 minutes. I'll keep watching a while and you can post here if you see it again.
