Dec-23-20 | | mckmac: <Jessica> I have only recently discovered Facebook and am finding it choice so am taking a break from here but will be back for Dom's birthday battle spose I'll have to take Ohio off ignore for a bit but hey any friend of Gerry McCarthy's is a friend of mine. Jess, you are the best. |

<Matt> Yes Facebook has some real advantages. For example I enjoy the company of a large group of horror film fans there. We have various niche genre groups so it is literally a gold mine for horror fans. That is the only purpose I use Facebook for.
One of the advantages of Facebook is that you can register with any name you like, and connect with any group of people you want to. From family members to internet loons, it's all up to you to find the conversations you might want to join. In my opinion it's always a good idea to take <Ohio> off ignore, though that kind of thing is personal. I would never judge somebody for their ignore list, that is strictly up to each member. It's true what you say though <Dom> very much considered <Ohio> a good friend, which is obvious from his posting history. <Dom> was a special case in many ways- he didn't believe in the ignore list, and I doubt he ever put any one on it. I use mine selectively- I use it to prevent myself from fighting with people online. Every few weeks I clear it entirely though, until it slowly gets around a dozen names on it again. Then I clear it again. |

Dec-24-20 | | mckmac: Cheers <Jess>, some chewy and useful information there. Ta very much. |

Dec-24-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Jess>
Have a great Xmas! I'm playing host and doing all the cooking tomorrow, but thankfully it's a small gathering this year. Been a hectic week or two in the footy and it's not likely to get any slacker in the near future. At least both of our teams managed wins in the <Caribou> Cup, although I imagine <Totteringham> will be happiest about the draw for the next round! Don't even ask why <ManU> are now third in the table - it's a complete mystery to me. We've only started well in that one game against <Leeds>. I guess a lot of the other teams must have been taking points off each other. Was very pleased that Olly didn't play <Poggers>, even from the bench, but he's soft-hearted of course and will keep rotating the squad across the various competitions. ----------
Jeez, there's just been a massive altercation involving three <foxes> outside my window. The squealing sounded like a dozen piglets being slowly tortured to death. I managed to catch most of the live action. No festive spirit in their world, that's for sure. Anyway, have a good one. Relax that drinking exile for a few days, but not so much that you start behaving like a fox! |

Dec-24-20 | | Cibator: <JessieCafeSureKeen> Eh, Ah divvent knaw how tha thowt Ah wor a Geordie, even if Lindisfarne is one of my fave bands. (Still better exponents of that rollicking rock-tinged folkie style, and from the same part of the world: Bob Fox and Stu Luckley - but alas YouTube doesn't feature their earliest and very best recordings.) Yes, having re-read that last post of mine, I do see how it could have been taken either way. My money was actually on the Potters, so that's another seven bucks the <Percys> owe me. As for pubs, the Dog and Ferret is and always was a non-starter. I favour the Dying Pine, as featured in rival publication "Gas". One depiction of its interior by Hunt Emmerson is still guaranteed to reduce me to hysterical laughter, whatever mood I'm in. Xmas this year is a deux avec Cibatrix, just arrived home from hospital with her freshly healed ankle, and not yet up to out-of-house forays. Our favourite pot-roast done with oranges, red wine and spices will feature heavily. Do enjoy yours, wherever you'll be and whatever you'll be doing with whoever. |
|
Dec-25-20 | | mckmac: <Cibator> Sounds like you are in top form, sir, and writing like a pro too. Complements of the Season to you. Heh, my dear mother just happened to look over my shoulder as this phone's spell-check changed your good name to <Vibrator>. Look like another slightly awkward dinner then. I think I had better skip dessert. |

Not a great bet <Potters v Spurs> brah given that <Harry Kane> has made a career out of scoring against them. I think he might have more goals against then than any other club? |

<Lotsapoppa> Amazing scienting brah I did not know that. That is amazing science proof that the movie of Casablanca was made out of the remains of J.R. Capablanca, if I read your post correctly.. I did know that <Casablanca> was king of the disco producers, and that his son sang this fine song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOy... |

"Why was she born so beautiful?
Why was she born at all?
She's no bloody good to anyone.
She's no bloody good at all."
At the end of "Prime Suspect". A cast so good that Ralph Fiennes played only a small, bit part. |

Dec-31-20 | | mckmac: All the best for the new year to everyone who posts here at Chez Jess. Take it easy <Tim>, best wishes to you. Keep on trucking <Jess>. Respect for all your effort to keep this great website 'on the rails' over the last year. Matt |

 | | FSR: Happy New Year, <jfq>! I don't know if you are the right person to tell this to, but I am certain that our most recent three games attributed to Lew Cohen, and very likely our four most recent games attributed to him, were in fact played by the Chicago-area player Lawrence S. Cohen. See my comment on Lew's page. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Merry Newmas> Tim~! Yes I have watched the <Prime Suspect> all 5 series many times. The first 3 series are much the best, as they were written by the <Lydia LaFlamme>, the author of the novels. However all the series are worth watching thanks to the luminous, and ageless, <Helen of Troy Mirren>. |

 | | FSR: <jessicafischerqueen> Thanks for fixing the Cohen games. Weird that both L Cohens were born in 1960 (as I was). Sad that we only have one game by Lewis left. I'll try looking around for some more when I have a chance. John Collins obviously expected Lewis to become a superstar (like the others of his "Seven Chess Prodigies"), but I guess he moved on to other things. I see from his Twitter feed that he's a fundraiser for the Democratic Party these days. I have a higher USCF rating than the erstwhile prodigy. |
