"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Jul-11-19  WinKing: Just in. <lostemperor> will open his contest for Dortmund if we can get between 12-15 participants.
Jul-14-19  morfishine: Dear <moronovich> I see you are doing most admirably in this leg of the bookie game!

Its a great and welcome treasure to see the current bookie champion doing so well in the very next leg!

  moronovich: Thanks <morf> !

Guess you are right. It is often more difficult to defend a title, than gaining it.

Jul-15-19  Count Wedgemore: Yes, you are doing consistently well in almost every bookie leg, <moro>. Well done! After a rough start I had finally begun to climb a bit in the standings, but then a disastrous Zagreb Tournament (for me, that is, not for Magnus :=), I'm in the red..Shame! Shame! So I've put some wagers in on 'Overall Winner' in the Riga Grand Prix. And if it pays off, I may still have a chance, albeit small, to reach the Top Ten. Oh well, fortunately there is still two more legs for me and <morf> to qualify for the next Championship leg. We must have all the three chessbookie musketeers qualified for the finals!

  moronovich: Hi <Count> !

Thank you for your kind words. But I sincerely hope that you and also <morf> will qualify and in the same spirit wish I could distribute my bugs to you,but I am afraid it is against the rules..

And what happened to you after Zagreb ? You were otherwise in a good position !

Otherwise it can be a good strategy to gather som bugs to the very last round were some betters play like crazy and the polls are high and juicy !?

Vive le musqeters !

Jul-17-19  morfishine: Well Dear <moronovich> I understand your concern about "bugs", but keep in mind

Missspelling can be a kind of unintentional poetry...but in this case I will erase it from my buglist :)

And enjoy not drinking a cup of coffee at Star Bugs.A place I can not recommend.

Jul-18-19  Count Wedgemore: Why do mobsters never drink coffee at Star Bugs? They worry that the place is bugged.

  moronovich: Thanks <morfishine> !

And I dreamed about you tonight !
Dreamed that you won in the bookiegame !?(the final). Was happy on your behalf.

So all seems to be well.

And I send all the best wishes for this weekend.

Extra bonus to you:The riders of TDF have just been through.I was there on my first trip to France in 72.MARNE(east of Paris.A place wellknown because the germans got a welldeserved beating by the french during WW1.1914,I think it was.A famous battle.

But the question is:6000 french soldiers were called to the front immediatedly. They came from Paris. But they were transported to the front in a rather unusual way ! How ?

Aug-13-19  morfishine: Dear <moronovich> Its always so good to converse with you sir!

I'm humbled about your dream about my success in the bookie game, especially coming from you, the stellar player, notwithstanding many other fine players! My strategy is different than yours since you are much better informed and educated on individual players, while I approach the game almost exclusively from a numbers aspect

I think we can conclude that knowledge beats numbers!

And your question about the French victory on the Marne evokes quite exciting memories both from my grandfather who served as a messenger near Verdun, and the book "The Guns of August".

The fable goes that the French soldiers were transported by Paris taxis, at no expense I might add, which would've been considerable indeed. Its a great story that has slowly eroded over time, not from fact or fiction, but from sheer numbers. Remember, Von Luck's army totaled over 200,000 men, and when he turned south, he presented his right flank to the French, who quickly pounced. Obviously, 6,000 men could not deter 200,000 men, but the impact of these men hitting the flank at just the right time rings true! Keep in mind, many more thousands of French soldiers trudged overland to stop the Germans, but enough of this, its a great question, and is certainly endearing to all concerned folks, historians, etc.

  moronovich: Good evening <morf> !

And thank you for your interesting response. As you are clearly the one who knows more about WW1 & WW2 than me.

Just thought it would be a special picture:Taxidriver to soldier:"So you gonna beat some germans tonight ?" "Oh yeah" "Shall I wait for you, till you are finished?" "Shure-we should be done around 7 o´clock and then back to dinner" "All right.I´ll wait"

All the best

-moro-

p.s.: Have you recieved my mails ?

Aug-18-19  morfishine: Good afternoon Dear <moronovich>, sorry for the delayed response...

The book "The Guns of August" is one my favorite reads. Its where I first heard the story about the Paris taxi's. Have you read this book? The author is Barbara W. Tuchman and is highly recommended, which I'm in complete agreement with

Aug-20-19  morfishine: Hello Dear <moronovich>! Thanks for offering your input into this awkward situation. Frankly, I would've discussed with you, but I gathered you have much going on and didn't want to bother you.

Its all good, there's too much good in life to let one get bogged down in quibbles and squabbles. I hope to have some answers soon

moronovich: Thanks for your reply dear <morf> !

And I understand your point o view(s) and it sounds like a healthy approach to me.

No I haven´t read the book, but it has gone down in my pocket and bucket list !Guess it is more than 5 years ago I did read a book....

I see we are both in the cellar over at the bookies.Perhaps we should order a couple of beers !?

Out in the nature also horses (the younger ones)do have fights for the right to the ladies. And on this clip I saw the beforeamentioned fightings. But while they were occcupied with this, the old male who lived a more easygoing life, payed the ladies a visit. And gave them all the service they needed ! :) -- guess there are many point in this story.

All the best

  Diademas: Hi <Moro>

Have you been stacking up on tinned food and water in waiting for the next chapter of the Greenland war?

  moronovich: Good evening <Diademas>

And thanks for your visit.

Can not take this guy seriuosly. He is like a spoiled child ruled by his stomach and lack of feeling for other people and this little funny thing called reality. And if it wasn´t because of his brute power it would all be a good joke.

So you remember the iconic Jolly Cola !? Quite a fine brand IMHO.And the word frikadeller can give a great taste of childhood. And nowadays as well.

So long and take care.
And let us not hope he will buy Norway :) Which I believe may be the best country in the World..

Aug-21-19  Count Wedgemore: <moronovich: And let us not hope he will buy Norway :)>

That would be too expensive, even for Trump. He'd have to sell at least California and Florida to be able to afford it. But he's said that he would like to see more of us immigrating to the US, so maybe he starts buying Norwegians? Now, that would be the smart thing.

No, Norway is not for sale. But we're happy to sell Bergen :) :)

And by the way, we all know who Greenland originally belonged to, right?? So if you Danes are going to get rid of it, you'd better hand it over to its rightful owners (that would be us), not those Yanks :)

Diademas: <<Count Wedgemore: No, Norway is not for sale. But we're happy to sell Bergen :) :)>

The ratio of loudmouthed, self obsessed know-it-alls could be too high even for the American President's liking.

Aug-24-19  virginmind: Hi <moronovich>, Diademas, Count Wedgemore and morfishine. <Diademas>: I hope this has no effect on the overall character of the city, as I'm planning a trip to Norway next year and Bergen is on the list :)

  Diademas: Hi <virginmind>

Luckily the urban landscape and natural surroundings are in no way reflecting the dark souls of its inhabitants. :)
The best time to come is normally May/June. The weather is usually good, there are fairs and festivals going on and the bulk of tourists have not yet arrived.

The locals are usually very friendly, but it is more than a myth that they like the sound of their own voices. :)

Feel free to ask for tips as to what to see, and what to avoid.
