 | | Tabanus: <Steve> For example the non-TI D Palo vs R Ruck, 2003, if I type "European Championship" in Event field I get this message because European Championship (2003) is already in TI. If it wasn't the game would be added. |
|
Mar-19-21
 | | stevemcd87: Hey <Tab>,
I wasn't able to replicate the error.
I've created a slip for D Palo vs R Ruck, 2003 , feel free to give it another shot.
If you receive the "fatal error", try updating the "Tournament" input to 39646 (tid for European Championship (2003)).
I am also working on the bug that continues to show empty edit form, I could see how that can get annoying |
|
Mar-19-21
 | | Tabanus: Hmm? Not on the Editor's page,
I meant the game itself D Palo vs R Ruck, 2003, at bottom of that page there is an option to edit Event and click on Update. It works only for non-TI events. |

 | | stevemcd87: Thanks a lot, <Tab>.
This had led us to more validations we would need to put on the Tournament Site and Event Date updater, to ensure proper data is being inserted.
Examples:
- Please make the site information more compact.
- Please do not use quotation marks in site names.
- Please do not use brackets in site names.
- Please do not use greater/less-than symbols in site names.
And there's a few more, please use caution with the Tournament Site and Event Date updater, for now, as we put in the extra validations.
We can also add the ability to update all "Event" tags to a tournament, if you'd think it'll be helpful. |
|
Mar-20-21
 | | stevemcd87: We've updated the editor page to now allow us to add a table to a tournament and merge tournaments.
You may need to clear your browser's cache with a hard refresh to see the updates.
I still don't think I found the root of the "blank edit form" issue but have been making minor changes that should help. REMINDER: <Please use caution with the Tournament Site and Event Date updater, for now, as we put in the extra validations.> Thanks for your patience. |
|
Mar-20-21
 | | Tabanus: Excellent. <We can also add the ability to update all "Event" tags to a tournament, if you'd think it'll be helpful.> I'd like that too. I think it would make the work less confusing. |

 | | MissScarlett: Can we recover this missing game G B Fraser vs Steinitz, 1867? |
|
Mar-22-21
 | | Tabanus: Tid merging worked.
[bad tournament link] (round 13 of EuCh 2005) had about 88 games which was merged into European Championship (2005). |
|
Mar-22-21
 | | stevemcd87: Hello <MissS>,
It seems there was a problem with the game's eco, it's been updated from "?" to "000" but we have a bug in Olga that occurs for Odds games.
So, this link -> G B Fraser vs Steinitz, 1867 only works until move 17 because 17.5(Qf7) is an illegal move due to the pawn.
I was working on a solution, a while back, when <jessica> first brought the issue to my attention but it doesn't seem to work for all devices.
Try this link -> https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che... to see if it works on your device.
|
|
Mar-23-21
 | | MissScarlett: It's fixed now. The issue is I think that if the [SetUp] tag is not correctly set, i.e., [SetUp "1"] or more likely, not put in at all, the software, in the presence of a [Fen] tag, defaults to [SetUp "0"], which then needs to be manually corrected. Can you change it to automatically set it to 1? |
|
Mar-23-21
 | | stevemcd87: Thanks a lot, <MissS>!
I'll look into adding the "SetUp" tag automatically, when needed. |

 | | Tabanus: Reposted from Bistro:
<Mar-24-21 Alan McGowan: In case it is relevant to posting by <Z4all>: In the summer of 2020 I sent 26 photos of players to Annie, for use in biographies. She later told me she no longer worked for chessgames.com and that she had passed on the images to Sargon. These images have not been used on the relevant pages.> |
|
Mar-24-21
 | | stevemcd87: Thanks for bringing the post to my attention, <Tab>.
We're looking into it. |
|
Mar-25-21
 | | Stonehenge: < I still don't think I found the root of the "blank edit form" issue but have been making minor changes that should help. > It looks like a buffer is filling up or something. In the morning I can do twenty or so game correction slips without any trouble. It gets worse during the day. The more I do, the more the problem occurs. |

Update Event Crosstable doesn't work for European Championship (2006). It works for a while, then goes back to list of players. |

 | | Stonehenge: Yes, some tournaments cannot be completed because of this. We need a message saying something like <gid 12345 you're trying to process is a duplicate of gid 67890. Do you want to force it in, yes or no?>. |
|
Apr-02-21
 | | Tabanus: Good idea. I would not force in all GM draws, for example when other games are unavailable anyway, but quite often it's the best. |

Good morning.
<GrahamClayton> offers a good suggestion to edit the pgn upload utility page: PGN Upload Utility Here is a portion of the text on that page as it is now: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
<Please provide the source for all submitted games in the "Source" tag of the PGN file (maximum 64 characters).
Insert PGN (header+moves) for game below:

<Stephen>
This is a game with correct provenance: F Amelung vs A Ascharin, 1878 Here is a duplicate of that game with incorrect provenance: F Amelung vs A Ascharin, 1884 I submitted a correction slip, but I'm on the Editors Page now and I cannot seem to delete the duplicate for some reason? I left the correction slip up, so you should be able to see it. |

 | | MissScarlett: Need to recover the Morphy - Conway game, if possible. Moncure Daniel Conway |

 | | Tabanus: <jess> I was able to delete it. I have experienced the same as you once or twice before. |
