stevemcd87: <Chess.com> seems to have an API that may work for us( https://www.chess.com/news/view/pub... ). It'll take some time to implement but can be extremely useful for future events if it works. I'll keep you posted.

Tabanus: Can someone dump also the European Championship (Women) (2002) into the database/TI without creating duplicate players so that I can start working on it.

Tabanus: Yikes :) It looks Ok as a start. Thanks! Note: Jana Jackova and Dagne Ciuksyte also had 7 points - I'll add their missing games and/or edit the standings and bring them in ;)

I've had some problems with the Stonehenge dumps but probably it's for the best!? At least if the events are worked with a little bit so that they are "better" somehow than those in 365Chess etc.

Stonehenge: If need be some sort of a rating system can probably be devised for tournaments in the TI.

Tournaments with proper intros can get <the black star of mega importance> i.e. a rating of 9000.

They can go at the top of a certain time frame and below them a division and below the division other tournaments.

Or something like that :)

Tabanus: <Steve> https://www.chessgames.com/perl/edi... has two players with "10 games" but when clicking on those "10 games" there are only 9 (and it should be nine). Also the placements have been blanked out, which I believe must have happened recently.

stevemcd87: <Tab> I needed to delete an invalid game that caused the extra game to show for each of the players. Issue has been resolved.

<MissS> Best way to find out is to upload the game and check. Provide a link to the game if it doesn't work as expected.

I've made an update to the editor page last Friday.
We can now create a tournament, edit a game by providing it's gid and view the editor logs.
You may need to clear your cache if you haven't seen the updates by now.

MissScarlett: <Best way to find out is to upload the game and check.>

Trouble is, the PGN Viewer I was using didn't recognise it, so I couldn't generate a PGN. I will try another though.

<We can now create a tournament, edit a game by providing it's gid and view the editor logs.>

Can you create a rolling list of recently uploaded games? I'm still concerned with the issue of the unchecked, unsupervised facility of submitting and approving games. Such a list would provide a semblance of oversight.

  Tabanus: <Steve> Thanks. The <invalid game> must be what I used to call <ghost duplicate> ;)

Err, of the EuChW's there is now only one missing in the database, namely European Championship (Women) (2011) (which has only one game).

Tabanus: <Steve> I managed to lose two games that should go into 11th EU-ChW playoffs (2010). They were between Dembo and Zhukova. I suppose they are now invalid ghost games.

Excuse: I created a new tournament (with 0 games) but there was no new tid given for it so it took me two lost games to realize I could make the event visible in TI (even with 0 games) by clicking on Kibitzable.

stevemcd87: <Tab> We are now able to delete <ghost duplicates> using the editor page.
When processing the games, it provides the game id of the duplicate.
In this case it was <d=1578123> and <d=1578124>.
After confirming that they were <ghost duplicates>, I was able to use the new "Get GID" feature to delete the games.
I was then able to process the games without any other issues.
Y Dembo vs N Zhukova, 2010
N Zhukova vs Y Dembo, 2010

Eventually, we would be able to use a similar strategy to update the <eco> when receiving the <invalid game> error for odds game and null move games.
I don't believe updating an <invalid game> is working correctly at the moment but you can delete and try again.

Thanks for the steady progress! And I should have remembered that the duplicate id is there also for ghost games.

MissScarlett: A recently uploaded game is an example of the need for supervision:

Browne vs T Kurosaki, 1970

Unknown is who submitted it, and which editor approved it.

<MissScarlett>

At least this one has a source tag listed, though it looks a little bizarre to me:

<[Source "HERALD & NEWS, Dublin - Livermore - Pleasanton, Monday, December"]>

I agree on supervision, but this should be supplied by those few of us editors who can process uploads.

We will need tools to do this supervising. For example:

1. The date of processing and the name of both the uploader and the processor should be recorded automatically in every case.

2. This data should be made automatically visible to those editors who can process uploads.

I can help a bit in the short term by telling you that I didn't upload this game. I know exactly which games I upload because I keep a public record of every single upload I have ever submitted or processed.

This record can be found in the JFQ games collections, which are visible to all users.

The game in question Browne vs T Kurosaki, 1970 seems a little fishy to me as well, based on the score.

Did Walter Shawn Browne really play 7.h4 from this position?

I think there is something wrong with this game score.
