stevemcd87: <Chess.com> seems to have an API that may work for us( https://www.chess.com/news/view/pub... ). It'll take some time to implement but can be extremely useful for future events if it works. I'll keep you posted.

Feb-22-22  Z truth 000000001: <Tab> I can offer an improvement or two (most only stylistic).

But let's start by acknowledging your writeup starts out as excellent - and should be used as a <CG> model.

Maybe later I'll post more, but let's say that pretty much anything <Tab> had done on <CG> should be marked premium-grade.

(With the possible exception of the Stumpers page - ha!)

Stonehenge: Sometimes after updating something on CG, the page seems to be waiting for www.google.com (at least that's what I see on the bottom left side of the screen) and then I get the message <Unable to connect to the reCAPTCHA service. Please check your internet connection and reload the page to receive a reCAPTCHA challenge.>

Stonehenge: It also happens by just clicking on a page, not only after updating. And then on a random player page <Search Google for (insert player name)> doesn't work either.

MissScarlett: Another glitch in the matrix....

Fischer vs J Pascual, 1967 shows up not under 2.Nc3, but 2.Nf3 in:

Repertoire Explorer: Robert James Fischer (white)

Feb-27-22  Z free or die: <<MissScarlett:> Another glitch in the matrix....

Fischer vs J Pascual, 1967 shows up not under 2.Nc3, but 2.Nf3 in:

Repertoire Explorer: Robert James Fischer (white)>

Maybe because the only source for the game I know (the one you yourself gave, i.e. http://metrolirot.blogspot.co.uk/20...) has 2.Nf3.

So perhaps the change of moves was a recent edit, not that I'm pointing figures, but the finger likely points at <FSR> (he does, I think, have such editor powers (or not?)).

If the game score was changed after the last opening explorer build, well, that might expect such a situation might it not?

.

Feb-27-22  Z free or die: Instead of <Another glitch in the matrix...> I would label it as <Another day in the <CG> office>

The <CG> db being somewhat of a giant bowl of jiggling and wiggling jello, or should that be a giant bowl of <SwitchingQuylthulg>?

Feb-27-22  Z free or die: If you want a glitch, well I've got one of those too...

Received an otherwise blank page with this message:

<Unknown player 'gyula breyer?kpage=4'. Try our search engine?>

[unknown player]

When doing an <Earlier Kibitzing> from this page:

<Gyula Breyer>

This happened more than once tonight, and it's something I've never seen before.

Reloading the "bum" page doesn't fix it. Nor does monkeying around with the url to try kpage=3:

[unknown player]

.

MissScarlett: <So perhaps the change of moves was a recent edit, not that I'm pointing figures, but the finger likely points at <FSR> (he does, I think, have such editor powers (or not?)).>

But your comment from 2015 shows it was 2.Nc3 then. And <FSR> isn't an editor, although anyone can submit a correction.

MissScarlett: Fischer was experimenting with 2.Nc3 around this time:

https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che...

Feb-27-22  Z free or die: <Missy> yes, maybe it was 2.Nc3 before my post, and some editor changed it to 2.Nf3, after my post(*).

Then, for quite a while, the opening explorer used this 2.Nf3 corrected version - maybe up to the last time it was run.

But more recently, if I may surmise, <FSR> makes a post about Fischer experimenting with 2.Nc3 (which I think is the source for your comment above).

OK then, and once again making an assumption on my part, somebody on <CG> sees <FSR>'s post, and changes the game score back to 2.Nc3. Now the game matches the condition at the time I made my very old post. Which is what you noted above.

Are you following all that?

Because this kind of stuff is happening *all the time* on <CG>, even if not for this particular game.

Piggly wiggly.

* * * * *

(*) After all, the blog mentioned in my old post claims the score comes from Pascual himself - so my vote is still for 2.Nf3. Certainly until I see a different potential source.(**)

(**) Where else, besides <CG>, does a post need footnotes?

FSR: <Z free or die> I do not have the ability to edit game scores on this site. (I can create and edit player bios, and often do so.) Nor have I ever submitted a correction slip for Fischer vs J Pascual, 1967.

I only learned of that game two days ago. I certainly would not consider my observation at that time that Fischer occasionally played 2.Nc3 sufficient to change the score of the game. Making a change for that reason would be stupid, particularly given that he played 2.Nf3 much more often. Repertoire Explorer: Robert James Fischer (white). If the 2.Nf3 version indeed comes from Pascual himself, I agree with you that that would very likely be the most authoritative version, absent a contrary version by Fischer himself, which almost surely does not exist.

I have compiled a collection of games where there appears to me to be an error in the game score. Game Collection: Games with notation errors. Where possible, I have submitted a correction slip to chessgames. I only do so where I consider the evidence that there was an error, and that my proposed correction is indeed correct, to be clear and convincing. Sometimes chessgames makes my suggested correction, sometimes not.

Feb-28-22  Z free or die: <FSR> Yes, please accept my sincere apologies.

I should have been more circumspect in invoking your involvement in my wild-ass speculation on the behind-the-scenes <CG> game/opening machinations .

(I would say humblest apologies, but let's face it, I don't apparently do humble so well!)

  Stonehenge: Well done :)
Mar-11-22  whiteshark: minor problem:
While yesterdays MVL vs Rapport game of the FIDE Grand Prix Belgrade (2022) has a gid in Vachier-Lagrave vs Rapport, 2022 it redirects to Live Broadcast Page
Mar-11-22  whiteshark: it's even worse as it redirects to / contains their 1st game Rapport vs Vachier-Lagrave, 2022

so the moves of game 2 are completly missing

Steve, could you remove this from my pending <GOTD> list. I meant to delete the submission, not promote it, as the pun has already been used. Submissions used before the introduction of the new system were not automatically deleted.

Does it look like it?

Mar-12-22  Z truth 000000001: Looks like s/o is having a bad hair day.
Mar-18-22  Z free or die: gid = 2203768

still isn't there.

Does <Missy> know what game it is? Did it have a sizeable kibitzing?

Makes me wonder a little if there's a chronology of gid's on <CG>?

(There should be a public log where a gid could be mapped to a creation date, but even having a timeline of what gid started out a given year would be useful (or so I think))
