 | | PawnSac: I posted a corrected move list for the following game: O Akinola vs B Dekic, 2010 I left a comment there. Thanks! |
|
Apr-19-22
 | | Stonehenge: It's fixed. Please, next time use a correction slip. |
|
Apr-19-22 | | Z free or die: I think it would be nice to have correction slips submitted via the kibitzing comments. Some kind of automated notice to the standard stream would be easy to do with a backlink. This would have the benefit of more transparency, especially for us non-editor users - i.e. showing who's actually digging out the corrections, and exposing both the what and when for the correction. It would also allow notice in case an interdiction might be needed. Generally, I think corrections to games should be injected into the comment stream - otherwise there's lots of examples where earlier kibitzing becomes almost nonsensical and there's no notice as to why. . |

There are actually more than 2,000 games.> <Stone> Editors now have the ability to update a player's page. At the bottom of the page there is an "Update Player Page" button. Robert Byrne
<A search feature that also searches for aliases would be excellent.>
We could add the ability to search aliases in the "Player Search" feature located at Player Directory (Beta) . Doing it for the search features, on the home page, will be more difficult. |

Apr-21-22 | | Z free or die: <Steve> - I still have this problem: <<Z> Can you provide a link to <player's <Bang> forum>, please? The more examples I have, the better.> Bang (kibitz #495) A comment on the forum where I see a blank diagram. Cutting straight to the chase. |

 | | stevemcd87: <Z> I'm not sure why the images didn't work initially but there is a workaround when you see it.
- Click the <click for larger view>
- Copy & paste the fen to the kibitz form
- Click <Kibitz!>
- <It should work once at the "Preview Page", we don't have to post the comment>
- You can return to previous page and see the fen diagram. |

Apr-26-22 | | Z free or die: <Tab> it's good on SCID. Can you try resubmitting with the CG pid's? (I can't remember the format, WhiteChessGamesPID or ??? -- did <Daniel> document it some place other than the forums?) |
|
Apr-26-22
 | | Tabanus: I don't know the pid format either. I first submitted this game with wrong moves, probably creating a ghost game again blocking it. |
|
Apr-26-22
 | | Stonehenge: I've found the naughty GID (2269086), deleted it and resubmitted: Yates vs James Alexander McKee, 1911. |
|
Apr-26-22
 | | Tabanus: Thanks. I have to learn how to do that. |
|
Apr-26-22
 | | Stonehenge: The GID isn't hard to find, it has to be close to the other games from the same tournament. It was located just after R Lean vs W C Palmer, 1911. Then go to your Editor page and find <get GID>. |

You wrote <(I can't remember the format, WhiteChessGamesPID or ??? -- did <Daniel> document it some place other than the forums?)> He did not.
===
But I did: <Player Page ID tag instructions> chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #19896) Precise syntax follows- I know it works, because I have used the function regularly over the past few years. You just need to find the player pid and then enter it between the quotation marks: [WhiteChessgamesID "00000"]
[BlackChessgamesID "00000"] |
|
Apr-27-22
 | | MissScarlett: It's been raised before, but - as highlighted again here P Papp vs M Lomineishvili, 2010 (kibitz #17) - is there a way to remove the page showing Stockfish's game annotations? On the game editors' page, removing Stockfish's pid from the annotation box doesn't have the desired effect. |
|
Apr-27-22 | | Z free or die: <JFQ> thank you SO MUCH for that link - exactly what I was looking fer. (And so long ago - hard to believe - I was working forward from 2015) |
|
Apr-27-22 | | Z free or die: Also, a side note I've been saving for a long time about <Engine Annotations>... The SF annotations usually get inserted when a blunder has been made, showing the better move in a variation ending with an eval. But how bad is any given blunder? One doesn't know. In other words - where is the eval for the position after the actual blunder???? |

<z> It is my pleasure to be able to help you on anything, given the prodigious amount of help you have offered to me over the years. You know the only reason I had that <pid> post bookmarked was because <Annie K> fed it to me years ago. I needed it for the ability to publish games by different players with identical names. I don't think the information was ever published on a page where editors could easily see and find it eh. Indeed, it seemed strange to me at the time why that information was never posted publicly for all members to consult. Perhaps it was, but the array of links we get at cg.com are so scattered about that good luck finding them arranged in a single directory. |

Identical moves to Steinitz v Devide (1890):
Steinitz vs C Devide, 1890 Is there a method I can use from the Editor's page to do this myself? That would be optimal, but if not
might you please "parachute" the Marrero-Melgarejo game into the database? Best regards,
Jess |

Apr-30-22 | | Z free or die: Given the preponderance of GM draws isn't this check for duplicate games basically obsolete? Perhaps a warning to the submitting editor, with at most a confirmation, is warranted, but certainly not an outright rejection. True duplicates would require the same set of header tags anyways. . |
