WannaBe: Well, England is on the board first, so even if England loses, it will not be 3-0.

Penguincw: And it's now down to 2. <Nako> is trying to win it for the 2nd time, and only <juan> stands in his way.

Whoever Vegas has winning the finals, I have a feeling the opposite will happen.

France -220
Croatia +180

Jul-11-18  NakoSonorense: I think France is going to take it, but I'm actually rooting for Croatia! I don't remember a team going to extra time 3 times to get to the final. What an incredible team!

Diademas: Incredible effort by the Croatian team.
This may very well be the most surprising finalist in any WC.

Before it started they were ranked 20th in the World. https://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ran...

Jul-11-18  optimal play: I agree that it's been an incredible effort by Croatia to make it to the final.

I think Croatia deserve to win it although it would be great for African football if the team fielded by France became world champions.

Also it could be a set-back for cultural diversity if the Croats won.

Anyway, it's been a great effort by both teams and hopefully it will be an exciting game.

Jul-12-18  morfishine: Congratulations for those who astutely picked France and/or Croatia to make the final! Well Done!

TheAlchemist: Given that a French win will push me down to sixth, it's obvious who I should be rooting for.
Jul-13-18  technical draw: I'll get my congratulations in early. Congratulations <juan31>!
Jul-13-18  NakoSonorense: What the hell, <td>! I thought we were amigos.
Jul-13-18  NakoSonorense: <morfishine> <Congratulations for those who astutely picked France and/or Croatia to make the final! Well Done!>

I'm one of those, so thanks. To be frank, once the brackets were set, all the picks seemed fairly obvious to me, given how they had played in the Group Stage.

The only result that threw me off was Spain v Russia. I was unimpressed by Spain and I was confident that Croatia would run over them in the quarterfinals, but I thought they had enough left in the tank to beat the Russians.

I also picked Mexico over Brazil, but that was more wishful thinking than anything else.

Jul-13-18  technical draw: <Nakosonorense> <What the hell, <td>! I thought we were amigos.>

When it comes to futbol there are no amigos.lol!

However, I predict a 2-2 tie in regulation time. Place your bets!

Penguincw: 3rd place match hasn't started yet, but I'm going to make a prediction that Belgium wins that one.

Penguincw: Heading into the semi-finals, England had won 17 straight matches while wearing the red jerseys.

They decided to wear the home whites in the SF, and lost to Croatia.

Now for the 3rd place match they have decided to wear red again.

Would be nice if the order was flipped...

By the end of the year you won't remember who took 4th place. Or for that matter which two teams played.
