Linares (2009) |
The 26th Torneo Intercontinental de Ajedrez Ciudad de Linares was again staged only in Spain. In the previous three years, the first half of the tournament was in Morelia, Mexico (hence the "Intercontinental"). It was rumored that next year the first half would probably be in the Arab Emirates. The participants were: World Champion Viswanathan Anand (Elo ranked #2 in the world), Vassily Ivanchuk (#3), Magnus Carlsen (#4), Teimour Radjabov (#6), Levon Aronian (#11), Wang Yue (#13), Alexander Grischuk (#14), and Leinier Dominguez Perez (#23). Grischuk replaced Veselin Topalov (#1) who had to withdraw because of a new schedule for the Topalov - Kamsky Candidates Final (2009). Games started at 4 pm in Teatro Cervantes. Grischuk won on tiebreak (more wins) ahead of Ivanchuk. Linares, Spain, 19 February - 7 March 2009 Age Elo 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08

Feb-25-09 | | atahualpa yupanqui: Leontxho Garcia now say something like "at the same moment that Ivanchuck enjoy the match of Real Madrid we enjoy the match Carlsen-Anand" loll |
Feb-25-09 | | wolfmaster: <percyblakeney, furrer, Mulyahnto> Thanks. It seems like Carlsen will win this one barring any errors. |

Feb-25-09 | | furrer: The game i posted was actually winning, rybka couldnt find it though. And didnt Carlsen jsut blew the win again? |
Feb-25-09 | | Mameluk: Anand was playing too quickly. It usually works though:) I prefer Grischuk´s time management. |
Feb-25-09 | | firefly3: Okay, guys, can we stop pawning off Rybka's evals as our own? And can we stop it with all the cries of disbelief when someone strays from Rybka's suggestion? Really, I know that you're all very gratified by these brief intervals in which, through Rybka's assistance, you are elevated above the top players in the world, but please recognize what you are unconsciously doing -- you are lying to yourselves. Consciously, you would deny it in a heartbeat, but unconsciously, you have all stooped to a bloated fantasy world. |
Feb-25-09 | | atahualpa yupanqui: haha of course wolfmaster otherwise do you think I will hear a voice without understand what he say for more than 5 hour? |
