Kibitzer's Corner
May-28-14  diagonal: Just six day after swiss fellow Nico Georgiadis made his first GM norm at the Dubai Open, Noël Studer achieved his first GM norm at the Neckar Open in the german Deizisau:

Viktor Laznicka won, Richard Rapport came in forth, Studer who sensationally beat the more than 300 Elo points higher rated Super-GM Naiditsch, suffered only one loss (against Sabino Brunello) and totalized 6.5 out of 9 points: http://www.schachbund.de/news/vikto...

In Switzerland it's about a year's issue: <IM Nico Georgiadis>, <Noël Studer>, <Lars Rindlisbacher>, <Patrick Grandadam> (in absence of Russia, Armenia, Georgia and some other strong nations, they got the silver medal at the U-18 European Team Chess Championship 2013 in Maribor: http://www.swisschess.ch/news-112/i...) and <Laura Störi> were all <born in 1996> and challenching each other who will be Switzerland's next (male / female) chess grandmaster..

time will tell :)

Penguincw: Congrats to IM Noel Studer for winning the 116th Swiss Championship. He finished with 6/9, finishing ahead of GM Sebastian Bogner on tiebreaks.

Unfortunately, since there were only players from 2 countries (Switzerland and Russia's Alexandra Kosteniuk), this performance will not be redeemable for a GM norm.

Mar-24-19  Count Wedgemore: Looking at his nerdy picture he doesn't look much of a studer to me.

  Dionysius1: You're going by <BIDMONFA>'s picture presumably, <Wedgie>.

Hard to know what a studer would look like. What is a studer anyway?
