  tpstar: <2 modeling type pics>

"Play chess with me and the gloves come off!"

<I don't think anyone notices anything Carlsen wears>

Of course we do! He is a top model.

Ron: They should make a James Bond movie with some of these women chess players.
Mar-31-13  amaurobius: Are there any snooker/pool followers out there who would accept that Anastasia Valerevna bears at least a passing resemblance to the equally striking Michaela Tabb? Only younger.
Mar-31-13  IndigoViolet: Well, a bit... I like the fact that Ms Karlovich won't take any nonsense from loudmouth Russians talking in the press room.

Talking of which: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRN8...

Mar-31-13  amaurobius: Thanks <Indigo> that was an unexpected pleasure. Tabb on good form.
Mar-31-13  waustad: <JA>No intent to give you grief, it was just a FYI.

AylerKupp: <ron> It's already been made. It was titled "From Russia with Love".
Apr-03-13  KnightPusher: <AylerKupp: I don't think that it's that unusual for either a woman or a man to wear a different outfit on successive days. For example, have you noticed that Carlsen has been wearing a different outfit every day also?>

Haven't noticed that. But did notice Lawrence Trent's video-averse shirt the other day (and to be fair he noticed and was self-critical about it as it morphed on camera int various psychedelic optical illusions), and his horrible checkered shirt the last day.

Anyway, Anastasiya is great at press conferences, takes good photos, and is super cute and seemingly nice. (p.s. thanks John for the second one).

May-14-13  waustad: More than just eye candy she does a good job as a chess journalist. Compare her to Simen Agdestein for example and, at least in English, she is much more appropriately restrained. I've heard that in Russian she can be nastier, but I can't vouch for that.

@TarjeiJS @alinalami @MarkTWIC Please don't advise Alina to compete with miss Karlovich who has very special job... We all know what it is.

Nov-14-13  RedShield: The silly moo has recently joined Twitter:

https://twitter.com/NastiaKarlovich

She currently has only 681 stalkers, sorry, followers.

Nov-19-13  keith charles: What a grest job miss karlovich does in not taking the stupid questions from non chess press is she still playing
Nov-19-13  RedShield: 'You have a lucky pen?'
Nov-19-13  waustad: <keith>It is easy to find out by looking at her FIDE card, to which there is a link right above her bio. She hasn't played any FIDE rated games since Spring of 2010.
Nov-24-13  RedShield: Narvegian article on <Internett-fenomenet Anastazia>

http://www.dagbladet.no/2013/11/23/...

Google Translate relates the incident that ruined Vishy's gentlemanly image:

<After the ninth party Thursday failed Anand controlling for a sarcastic reply.

43-year-old was asked by Karlovich how he considered the possibilities after Magnus got an extra queen and put pressure on him:

- No, I thought about what I was going to eat tonight, said Anand acidic, and it was completely quiet in the hall.>

Apr-05-14  waustad: I ran across a picture of Karlovich from 11 years ago here: http://en.chessbase.com/portals/4/f... Without the caption I probably wouldn't have known who it was.
Apr-09-14  RedShield: <I ran across a picture...>

I suspect you orginally intended to write <I came across...>.

Fans of Ms. Karlovich may enjoy her commentary stint during the last round of the Candidates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fG...

Apr-09-14  SimonWebbsTiger: For want of a FIDE Women's Grand Prix, Khanty-Mansiysk 2014, page here is a link to live coverage.

Anastasiya remained in Khanty after the recent Candidates for this one.

MissScarlett: She was re-elected FIDE press officer at the Tromso congress, so I'm sure she'll be at Sochi come November, but that's got to be rough! Whose bread you eat, whose song you sing.

  HeMateMe: Definitely an attractive woman.

<http://en.chessbase.com/portals/4/f...>

Jan-22-17  Mr. V: Karlovich is an absolutely horrid press officer. I see she has had a long career as a chess journalist, so I have no idea how anyone could be so uniquely talented at creating awkward, stilted interviews and conversations with players and press that are so uncomfortable and tense to watch. She could learn a lot from Anna Rudolf Such a position requires someone with charisma.
Apr-26-17  fan ajedrez22: Why no one says if she's married or not
Apr-26-17  fan ajedrez22: to me particularly i think that has been an intachable and very professional conduct example of that is to explain why the girls should use hiyab that was not to reduce the woman but to say her faith and the customs of a people each visitor should respect, other of the cases is to fit the magnus carlsen
Nov-27-23  stone free or die: Looks like she has a new professional position:

Looked this up after seeing her interview Aronian at the Sinquefield (2023) showdown.
