Oct-15-06   samsal27: If Eesha beats WGM Bathuyag Mongontuul in the last round , she will have a bright chance to win a medal in the World Junior.
Oct-17-06   samsal27: Eesha finished fifth - http://sport.indiatimes.com/Eesha_f...
May-02-07   samsal27: Eesha made her final IM Norm in Dubai. Congrats to her! - http://www.hindu.com/2007/05/02/sto...
May-02-07   Ragh: <samsal27> Thats a great achievement indeed. However, a tournament win by Vijayalakshmi in a strong Italian Open almost went unnoticed by the media. In course of this win, she had quite a few GM scalps and then went on to achieve her FINAL GM norm. So, India has its 16th Grand Master.

May-02-07   fromoort: <Ragh> Great news! Thanks for the update.
May-16-07   samsal27: <Ragh> Viji still has to reach 2500 ELO, does she not? Or has that peak been scaled already?
May-17-07   Ragh: <samsal27> The last paragraph from 'The Hindu' link in my previous post says that <To become a GM, Vijayalakshmi has to raise her rating from the present 2425 to 2500. From this event, she stands to gain around 25 rating points.> So, she needs "just" 50 more elo to be officially crowned a GM.

An update - she is now playing an Open tournament in Liechtenstein .. found this on the Hindu website http://www.hindu.com/2007/05/15/sto...

May-17-07   Karpova: The official site of the Liechtenstein tournament:

Just click <Int. Schach OPEN> and then <Turnierverlauf allgemeines Turnier>.

May-17-07   samsal27: <Ragh> Cool. <Karpova> thanks for the link!
Jun-26-07   samsal27: Eesha drew with GM Hichem Hamdouchi(ELO 2598) in the 2nd round of the Sort Open. Perhaps she can make an IM norm here? Also, she may have missed a win with 44. Rd8+ (intermezzo with the idea of Ke4) though it is unclear ...
Jun-26-07   samsal27: For a link to the games here is the site - http://www.opensort.org/htm/documen...
