Jean-Marc Degraeve was awarded the title of International Master in 1991 and that of Grandmaster in 1998.

Degraeve was born in 1971 in Tourcoing. In 1987 he won the French junior championship and in 2003 was awarded the medal 'de la jeunesse et des sports'.

Degraeve has represented France in various national matches, among other competitions at the Olympiads.
