JEAN HEBERT

An over the board IM and ICCF GM, Jean Hebert won the 1978 Canadian Championship, for which he earned his IM title, and finished 1st-4th in 2007 in the Canadian Championship and won the 2009 Canadian Championship, and tied for 1st-3rd in the 2002 Canadian Open. He was the Canadian Junior Champion in 1976 and tied 1st-2nd the following year.

Hebert played in seven Olympiads between 1978-2002, twice on first board, and scored 37.5 points in 72 team games. His most recent major team event was Bled Olympiad (2002) as second reserve (coach/captain) and is registered on Canada's top board at the World team (50+) Championship at Dresden in June, 2016, but was their only team member to finish with (3) 3.5 points after 9 rounds in eight of his played games.

Hebert was chess columnist in La Presse from 1981-87.

Feb-27-08  Elxiddicus: Mr. Hébert took 1st place with three others at the 2007 Canadian Championship.
Aug-07-08  Valmy: I just played him on Caissa.com, a chess 960 5/0 game, jean handle is "Symbicort", of course he just killed me, but he is very friendly.
Aug-20-09  squarepants: he just won the canadian closed zonal ahead of a bunch of IMs and a Gm. impressive result for an old dude.
