notyetagm: The point is that after 32 hxg3 fxg3 White is one tempo short of stopping the standard h-file mating idea of 33 ... Qh4+ 34 Kg1 Qh2+ 35 Kf1 Qh1#. That is, in the following position White is one tempo short of stopping this mating sequence:

click for larger view

White is one tempo short of stopping the mate down the h-file because he needs to clear both the e2-queen and the f1-rook self-blocks for his king <but he has only one move to move both pieces>. If either piece had not been on these respective squares, the sacrifice would not have been sound because the White king would have been able to flee to safety in the center of the board via Kh1-g1-f1-e2.

ahmadov: This guy gave an interview to the world chess cup official web site, in which he also speaks about Radjabov. To my great surprise, the reporter names the interview "Murtaz Kazgaleev: Radjabov didn’t impress me.", in which Murtaz does not say anything of this kind. He speaks about Radjabov's problems but does not say that Teimour had not surprised him.

Nov-09-06   sitzkrieg: <Bidmonfa> Plz keep "spamming". Does anyone know where this GM comes from? He did quite well in Corsica rapid.
Nov-10-06   oao2102: I believe this player is from Kazakhstan. Anyone know if the games from Corsica Masters are in the database yet?
Nov-10-06   sitzkrieg: Thanks for the info <oao>. Hopefully games will be placed in the database soon.
Dec-05-06   papynchase: He won the Asian Games rapid event in front of the more illustrious Chinese and Indian GMs. He beat Harikrishnan en route to the first gold medal being contended for chess which made its debut in the games.
