Sally Simpson: <What part of this don't you understand?>

I think world title matches should be included. All World title matches show up in the head to head count regarding classical chess on here. They all counted towards Carlsen's classical rating.

See also Tim Krabbe (kibitz #76)

I understand why they are not included. Someone would have to go through and add all the world championship matches losses from the year dot as well and that would take a while. (Capablanca, Euwe, Smyslov and Tal will be pretty easy to update, they only had one title match as World Champion.)

Off the top of my head Botvinnik's 15 losses will jump to over 40 when you include his world title matches as world champion. (not forgetting the times he had draw odds so <'The throne must somehow be seen as vacant during such competitions'> is slightly off skew as Botvinnik played those matches as the world champion with world champion draw odds as did Petrosian, Spassky, Karpov and possibly Lasker.)

Kasparov lost 14 games as World Champion to Karpov. one to Nigel, one to Vishy and twice to Kramnik. So his total of losses as World champion should be 45 and not 27.

  Sally Simpson: Good Morning Ohio,

You will get a dart in the neck for posting on this thread. (I won't, I'm using invisible ink, the crazy lady does not know I'm here.) the chances are Ding Liren may lose to Anish Giri tomorrow so she will be here and see you have trespassed. (note the use of G.C.'s. links as I try to lay low from the name police.)

  Sally Simpson: Hi Ohio,

Yes. The profile picture is a bit of a hint. Go back a few pages to here Tim Krabbe (kibitz #106) where I talk about his book 'The Rider.' I aslo read 'The Vanishing' another good bok, but not IMO as good as 'The Rider' which I imagine is a must read for bike racers everywhere both amateur and professional.

  Sally Simpson: Hi Miss Scarlett,

Just passing by. I was reading about the Mikhail Chigorin Club http://wikialpha.org/wiki/Mikhail_C... a bit like the Menchik Club except in this one you have to have beaten a current World Champion in a classical game.

The rule is anyone who wins a world title is removed from the club and only one win is counted or needed to be a member. That site has listed 113 members of the club but they appear to have a few missing v Carlsen; Duda, Giri, Abdusattorov, Niemann... You should tell them but I think it has been abandoned. Take it over.
