Jan-18-13 | | Pawn Dillinger: Brutal time for young Lisa Schut as she pays her dues on the way up. I hope she can keep a smile on her face and get through the rest of the tournament and still feel good about herself. Chess can be a cruel game as well as a character-builder. |
Jan-18-13 | | Harvestman: I hope she treats it as a learning experience and uses it to improve her game. She is horribly outgraded almost every time. If she is mentally strong enough she will learn a lot. Her game against Goryachkina could be fun, after their respective second and first places in the world under 18s. |

Exactly. It's a tough climb uphill, but her mentality is tremendously important in her continued development.
I look forward to Schut-Goryachinka as well. I must admit that though I live in the U.S., I have a rooting interest in the Netherlands and its players. |
Jan-19-13 | | waustad: David Klein is playing above his rating, though his SB tiebreak is lower, so it may mean he has mainly played the bottom of the table so far. |
Jan-19-13 | | waustad: He picked up about 100 elo a year ago. Maybe it is the start of another jump. |
Jan-20-13 | | Harvestman: Nice win for Goryachkina today. |
Jan-20-13 | | Harvestman: Lisa Schut gets her first win as well. That will be great for her confidence. |
Jan-20-13 | | achieve: Persistence is rewarded. Go Go Girls!!!! |
Jan-20-13 | | Harvestman: Go-go girls?! Where? That wasn't on the live cam. |
Jan-20-13 | | achieve: Only in my mind? |
Jan-22-13 | | Harvestman: Looks like a two horse race for the section win now. Peralta blew a nice advantage today when low on time. |
Jan-25-13 | | Harvestman: Lisa Schut is battling for the win against Van Der Werf. Great struggle to watch. |
Jan-25-13
 | | perfidious: Lisa's chances look very good at the moment-a win lifts her from the cellar. |
Jan-25-13 | | Harvestman: She does seem to be flailing around a bit trying to find the knockout blow, but her opponent keeps giving her chances. |
Jan-25-13 | | Harvestman: She got him! |
Jan-26-13
 | | Penguincw: < "Sabino Brunello and Fernando Peralta again won their game in Group C and are now in first place with 10(!) points out of 12 games. In round 13 Brunello has the easier pairing, playing with black versus Miguoel Admiraal, while Peralta will face 2nd seed Alexander Kovchan, also with black." > http://www.tatasteelchess.com/tourn... Looks like 2 players have already clinched double digit points in their tournament. |
Jan-27-13 | | Karpova: After Peralta's last round draw, Brunello has good chances of winning Group C as he has a crushing advantage in his last game versus Admiraal. |

Jan-27-13 | | arunjangity3: Congratulations Bruno! |
Jan-27-13 | | AuN1: poor peralta; he finishes with 10.5/13 and it's only good enough for second. hopefully he gets bumped up to b group next year too. |
Jan-27-13
 | | perfidious: <AnN1> 'Poor Peralta' did not even try to make an impression in the last round: A Kovchan vs F Peralta, 2013. While Peralta clearly had rougher seas to sail than Brunello, he apparently resigned himself to facing the executioner's axe from the get-go. |
Jan-27-13 | | capanegra: Peralta's luck was even worse taking on account what happened in the ninth round against Burg. T Burg vs F Peralta, 2013 |
Jan-28-13
 | | FSR: <perfidious> Yeah, seems a little silly for Peralta to go into a well-known forced draw, given that he was in no danger of finishing third. Maybe it given him a norm. |
Jan-28-13 | | Kikoman: Congratulations GM Sabino Brunello! ^^ |
