Nov-02-05 | | BishopofBlunder: <lostemperor: A few weeks ago I bought the book: breaking through. A recommendation for chessfans and a must for Polgarfans! What is unique is that the games which are discussed are annotated on e v e r y single move from move one. What makes the book excellent for 1200 till 2700 rated players. I've never seen a chessbook like that and have been waiting all my life for such an analysis format. Pity that book wasn't there years earlier for me. I would have been much better at chess!> I once read a book on the '72 Spassky-Fischer match that had every move of every game annotated by Bruce Pandolfini. It also had a diagram for every move so you didn't need a chess set to follow along. Though I would highly recommend one to help with following Bruce's lengthy analysis. :) |
|
Nov-02-05 | | schnarre: <BishopofBlunder> Which book was that? |
|
Nov-02-05 | | BishopofBlunder: <schnarre> <<BishopofBlunder> Which book was that?> I don't remember the title. I think it was called simply, "World Chess Championship 1972". It has been close to 20 years since I read it. I checked it out of the local library. I think it was written in 1973 or 1974. Soon after the match anyway. In addition to the game commentary, Pandolfini discussed the arrangements of the match, the atmosphere, and even the complaints Fischer made about the conditions, crowd control, cameras, etc. It was an interesting read and alot of fun. Looking on Amazon.com, I found a book by Svetozar Gligoric with that title. This may be it, I am not sure. I thought the annotations were done by Pandolfini, though. |

 | | lostemperor: <Susan> there was a question also of Boganel I also find interesting to hear. I couldn't really find it but it was something like this: Susan, would you tell us which part of your play do you consider to be your strong point? Would it be tactics, positional, planing, the endgame? I know that GMs are well in all but what aspects do you consider yourself best at. Thanks. |

TOPIC==> Internet Chess play and Variant Chess play <Zsuzsa>, another of <KVCS's> members, Agt71/Marie, is the highest rated female player *** at CowPlay.com. Also, when some Server problems are resolved there, our organization will recognize her as the First World Champion of Legion of Kings [regular Chess set-up, no Pawns, nine Kings]. - - - - - - - - -
<KVCS> wants to know: #1 With your heavy schedule, do you play any Correspondence Chess on the Internet? #2 Do you play any other Variant forms? [Not including FRC/Chess960] #3 <KVCS> doesn't mean to be too forward, rude, and definately not disrespectful to you, but would you consider playing such a Chess Variant as Legion of Kings? If so, would you consider some sort of match at CowPLay.com in Legion of Kings with agt71/Marie? - - - - - - - - - -
***[CER = CowPlay-Elo Rating of 1670+, based on a provisional rating of 1200 and statistics of 73 Wins, 9 Draws, 28 Losses in 110 games. NB: Only one game lost in 2005(!) --- all the others from February to September 2004. She holds the highest Legion of Kings rating of 1400+; 150 points above second place.] Thank you, with respect and admiration,

http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/200... *** Second, as for the "assistance (?)" of the comment: "For those who don't have the time to wade through kvcs's recent novella, here's the Cliff's Notes...." A quick repartee to your out-of-place comment would be: At least Cliff's Notes A-R-E helpful. So I will not say that. I will say this so you and others in <chessgames.com> will understand it
"real perfect and very clear": <KVCS> is going though rough times at present and will not be posting at <chessgames.com> much longer. I, Molly, am going through much turmoil right now just getting what I am doing --- done! If you wish to help (!) <Ms Polgar>, I'm sure she appreciates it. HOWEVER, as the only spokesperson for <KVCS>, I am getting very perturbed at all of the unnecessary "discomfort (?)" like you just gave me. GOT IT.... ***Full URL:

Nov-02-05 | | Parma: To learn why Monophysitism and Nestorianism divided Christendom is of upmost importance. Being a member of a chruch that holds to the Chalcedonian position makes it doubly important to know. It is greatly stressed that positions as to these matters are of highest import. The conflict between the Greek speaking Romans and the Saracens are related to events today in the Middle East and to the future of Western society. Before great errors are made, the challenge laid down is to find out about these matters quickly. Good Luck in your Games
