Oct-06-15  waustad: <HHM> It's the first tournament of a GP series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIDE_...
Oct-06-15  waustad: The top 4 in the WWCC knockout qualfied for this series.
Jan-26-16  waustad: Gibraltar is an awfully strong Swiss when Pia Cramling, after winning in the first round is on board 45 in the second round.
Jan-28-16  waustad: After a loss today to Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant, she has taken an elo hit over the last several weeks. I recall from looking at her rating history that her rating seems to drop when she's playing a lot. Perhaps Rilton, the Swedish League and Gibraltar in a short time are leaving her a bit played out.
Feb-06-16  waustad: She's playing in Tehran in a few days. After the last very busy month I can hope she'll do well, but her form in Gibraltar does not make one feel good about her chances.
Apr-23-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Pia Cramling.
Apr-23-16  waustad: 53 a prime of life! Happy b'day!
Oct-22-17  waustad: I see that she's entered in the European Women's Blitz Championship this year, though she didn't play in the rapids. http://chess-results.com/tnr297696.... Her blitz rating is much lower than for the other time categories.
Dec-30-17  virginmind: After the first half of blitz games in Riad Rapid&Blitz World Championship, she leads with 9.5/11 points against the world elite. Impressive. Congratulations, Pia Cramling!
Apr-23-18  diagonal: Happy Birthday, with best wishes from Switzerland:

It was in Zurich, SGZ Jubilee Open in 1984, where Cramling met her future husband, Spanish GM Juan Manuel Bellon Lopez. In 1984, too, Pia Cramling beat Viktor Korchnoi at Biel/Bienne, in the closed Invitation Tournament.

It was in Bern, SVB Open in 1992, were Cramling made her final male GM norm. Subsequently, she became the third female to earn the FIDE GM title through conventional tournament play (fifth woman overall).

Since the early 1980s, Cramling has been one of the strongest female players in the world. She has been ranked clear No. 1 woman in the FIDE Elo list in January 1984, and joint No. 1 woman in July 1984.
