Feb-17-06 | | shr0pshire: <lostemperor> Thank you for the picture. It brightens up the site, and it is always nice to have a face with someone's games. :) Joe |

 | | lostemperor: Well at least some have something else to complain about than the jellow teeth of Kasparov then! (Ever heard of green contact lenses? I would love to have those too! Wait a minute .. I'm already greenish). |

 | | lostemperor: Baadur is an alien from outer space who can make Tal-like sacrifices in the 21st century :) |
Feb-18-06 | | Jafar219: And this is your <Tal-like sacrificer>-Mamedyarov vs Jobava, 2006 |
Feb-18-06
 | | lostemperor: <Jafar219> I know that you still find it hard to accept the fact that Jobava got the Dortmund ticket instead of Mamedyarov. Get over it. The tie-breakrules are fair (the ones with the most black criteria) and known in advance. Mamedyarov won from Jobava but lost to someone else. I think Mamedyarov is a great player and he might be in Dortmund still in the future. He has got a chance in Corus and I think he did well there against the top 4 players. Mamedyarov, his father and sister are the most likable persons I saw at Corus. In fact I was talking about Jobava's record of winning sacrifices and in particular Jobava vs Naiditsch, 2006. Naiditsch, the Dortmund champion, also missed shared first place and the big bucks in aeroflot by half a point. Perhaps I should have taken a picture of him too:) |
Feb-19-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: <Chesstosterone> Jobava has even higher percentage winning sacrifices than Alekhine!!! (WOW) 17,49% vs 17,09%. Very impressive! |
Mar-07-06 | | jamesmaskell: Jobava is Oligarckh on playchess it seems. |
Mar-10-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: Yes, I have seen him there, but he was just wathcing Linares games. |
Apr-17-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: Jobava had a good start in Istanbul at the European Championship, but he ended with 7 out of 11 at the 11th spot. |
Jun-03-06 | | MorphyMatt: "Baadur Jobava" hmm......... sounds like the perfect Star Wars name ;-D |

 | | Peligroso Patzer: It has been a rough tournament so far for Jobava at Dortmund (as it figured to be, with six of the eight players currently ranked in the Top Ten). But what a great talent he is, with what an appealing style! He certainly has the potential to be a Top Ten player himself within a few years. I often encourage my students with the reminder that they can learn much more from their lost games than from games that they win. This has been affirmed by several world champions, and I once saw Karpov quoted to the effect that he had to lose 200 to 300 games before he became any good as a chessplayer. Of course, by his standards, being "any good as a chessplayer" probably meant winning the World Junior Championship! |
Sep-20-06 | | Bobak Zahmat: It looks Jobava isn't chosen by Topalov as his second during the match against Kramnnik. But I think Cheparinov is suitable enough. |

Feb-15-08 | | whiteshark: <Lost> Great photograph, but how does he look behind the mask ??? |

Jun-11-08 | | myra: Appearance means nothing .....he's a very deep man..... |

Mar-10-10 | | znsprdx: <Jafar219:> why so harsh? R&P endgames can turn in the blink of an eye - the players themselves often not knowing why they win or lose in the heat of the moment... |
