 | | Tabanus: <Annie> Biel Master Open (2019) rd. 9 games are missing. Perhaps at TWIC https://theweekinchess.com/chessnew... or https://www.365chess.com/tournament..., he latter has 180 games. |
Aug-16-19
 | | Tabanus: Thanks Annie.
The Biel Master Open (2019) is linked to at Biel (2019), but it can't be kibitzed or edited. Results are at http://chess-results.com/tnr457115.... |
Aug-16-19
 | | Annie K.: <Tab> I didn't think it would draw enough interest to rate the whole works, since it's only a partial record with missing games. But if you want to write it up, I can activate the headers and kibitzing for it. :) <CIO> we'll put them back right when we find them! :) Srsly, this is now at my top second priority, and should move into first place very soon. I know people are missing the feature, and it shouldn't be very difficult to restore once we focus on it. |
Aug-16-19
 | | Tabanus: <Annie> Sure, let's do this CG tribute to the Iranian winner. While we
are still around. |
Aug-17-19
 | | Tabanus: Biel Master Open (2019) now has correct (hopefully) standings. Yes... there is little interest apparently but perhaps winner photos would help? Like this one: https://www.bielchessfestival.ch/.i.... If only CG could have the permission to show them on its tournament pages. So we could smile at Kamsky's long hair. |
| Aug-17-19 | | WinKing: Less than 2 hours to go till the Sinquefield games commence. <chessgames> please open the 'Live' games forum for the Round 1 Carlsen vs Giri game. Thanks. |
Aug-17-19
 | | Annie K.: <WinKing> it's been open since yesterday. :) The live banner usually turns on one hour before game start. When people visit this site and see a live banner on the homepage, they tend to expect the game to be going on already, or at least starting soon - we don't want to disappoint them by turning it on much too early. For those who want a quick way to get there earlier, this is what the <Live Game> (aka Live Broadcast Page) link in the default top menu is for - not to mention the game link on the tournament page. |
| Aug-17-19 | | WinKing: Thanks <Annie K.>. Didn't know you had an auto-pilot system in play. ;) |
| Aug-17-19 | | WinKing: Although...the 'Live' banner hasn't kicked in yet with less than 30 min. to go. |
| Aug-17-19 | | WinKing: There it is! Thanks <chessgames>. |
Aug-17-19
 | | Annie K.: And that's why it needs keeping an eye on... there are several ways the process can break down somewhere or other. But please sound the alert only if there's less than one hour to the game and it's still not on, or if it's on but doesn't lead to a game. That will be helpful :) |
| Aug-18-19 | | morfishine: I sent an email to chess@chessgames.com three days ago, and haven't gotten a response |
| Aug-20-19 | | whiteshark: <chessgames.com <[serious problem] >> It seems as of today there are no more links (by clicking on the nickname to the left of the posting) to the pages of the posters. As just one example of many, (try to) click on <ketchuplover>'s nickmane in my forum. |
Aug-20-19
 | | Annie K.: Oooops, we'll get right on that, thanks <whiteshark>. |
Aug-20-19
 | | Sargon: Sorry guys, we’re bound to run into such issues occasionally when <modifying the codebase on a production server>.
When I get a little time later this evening, I’ll see about fixing the span of content for which the user links became non-functional. It’ll be a bit tricky, but I don’t think it’ll be an extremely large number of kibitzes that will need to be fixed. It looks like this <undocumented feature> was implemented very recently—only a matter of hours ago. ---
<morfishine: So I guess at this point, nobody is monitoring the "Blow The Whistle” requests> I confess that I’m generally so busy that <I've sometimes neglected to check the “blow the whistle” page>. In addition to this forum or the cafe, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to mention these issues on <my user forum>, which I’m now reviewing regularly. In any event, moving forward I'll try to assiduously monitor the “blow the whistle” page—as well as the Chessgames.com support forum and the Kibitzer’s Cafe—and <I sincerely apologize for being remiss in this area in the past>. |

Aug-21-19
 | | WannaBe: Request...
Please add Recent Chessforum Activity link to hamburger menu drop down for mobile devices. Thx =)) |
Aug-21-19
 | | Annie K.: Hmm... I asked Daniel about that when he was developing the mobile interface. He said the mobile version was targeted more toward game viewing and replay, since he assumed users would be more likely to participate in kibitzing when they were on full-sized computers. As is, the chessforums are linked at the bottom of the Recent Kibitzing dropdown, reached with just one extra click. :) |
Aug-21-19
 | | WannaBe: One extra click and a bunch of scrolling. To be exact... |
Aug-22-19
 | | OhioChessFan: <Sargon: I confess that I’m generally so busy that <I've sometimes neglected to check the “blow the whistle” page>. In addition to this forum or the cafe, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to mention these issues on <my user forum>, which I’m now reviewing regularly.> This is undoubtedly the worst advice given by an admin in the history of the site. |
Aug-22-19
 | | Annie K.: I'm still trying to think back... ;s
On the upside, <Sargon> is a very good programmer. I am delighted to announce that thanks to his research and work, the Notable Games and other related features have now returned to player pages! =) |
Aug-22-19
 | | OhioChessFan: cg.c has been around a long time, so maybe you will think of something. But inviting a public discussion of violations invites a public response by the alleged perpetrator and then the original claimant will re-cross..... Getting https on board will be a big step forward. |
Aug-23-19
 | | Tabanus: <Annie> I think the three playoff games of Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2019) could just be linked to in the bio under the crosstable. If only they were in CG. I think now with these short last day playoffs there's no need for extra playoff pages. |
Aug-24-19
 | | Stonehenge: The site is awfully slow since yesterday. |
| Aug-24-19 | | whiteshark: <awfully slow since yesterday> I can fully confirm that. |
