Jan-05-19
 | | moronovich: Good evening <virginmind >!
Thank you and the same to you and sorry for being a little late this time.. And yeah, we entered the New Year in fine style. With calmness and cousyness. But what stroke was that at the annual fireworks were all the neighbours say hello and happy new year to each other I went into the house after just 10 minutes. It all seemed like a replay with not much content. More firpower when Iwas in town with KJ on wednesday and especially with JWH were we once again created magic, visiting all possible corners of huamn existence during our 4-5 hour long maraton.Herein I feel like an old man a young boy at the same time and it is just wonderful as you now ! And you ? How did you enter 2019 ?
And do you have any personal or other kind of wishes for the new 12 months ?
Soon we will have the annual Tata (starting the 12th) which is definately one of the best tournaments during the year.A wonderful mix of old and new hands, nicht war !? All is OK here and I send you once again all the best wishes, also to Maria
and looking forward to further exchanges with you. Skål og på gensyn!Og godnat. |

|
Jan-13-19
 | | moronovich: Thanks <morf> ! And the same to you.
Wonderful and tough days ahead,I suppose. |
|
| Jan-15-19 | | virginmind: Hello <moronovich>, it's been a while and I'm sorry, should be more attentive but I had a strange period when I thought I was very busy - without necessarily being so. Well, I do have to end some unfinished work related stuff, but it should be over in a couple of days. Wife was alone at Onesti to stay with her sister who had had some moles surgery in a town nearby - (her husband, my brother in law, couldn't help much as he has to stay at home for another 2 weeks, following a nasty slip and fall on his back on icy surface outside, a few days before Christmas, and having the bad luck of causing some serious problems to his spine (not quite broken, but close - as the x ray showed). He should be OK but with a pretty long period for full recovery) - and anyway, I couldn't go, so the two sisters had to make do alone (none having a driving licence). But all ended well yesterday, I drove to that town to get Maria back and a brother of her husband came from Onesti to bring her back at home - surgery went great. So Wijk aan Zee in it's fourth day and no Carlsen win so far, but instead Nepo is on a pretty good shape, also Duda! The field is, as expected very strong, with the usual mix of some youngsters and/or lower rated. Praggnanandhaa if to be followed, also Maghsoodloo. And poor Kramnik suffered twice!...let's see how he fares today with black against the world champion. Other than this I should be OK, of course the usual stuff is going on but who cares, it's part of the landscape :)
And how have you been going on? Oh, you had your moments with KJ and JWH reiterated, that's great!...
Looking forward to hearing good news from you again my friend!... |
|
| Jan-18-19 | | morfishine: Just terrible news about <Domdaniel>, I just don't know what to say. I'm shocked to the point of silence |
|
Jan-18-19
 | | perfidious: <morf>, you aren't the only one. Good man, and he will be missed. |
|
Jan-18-19
 | | moronovich: And I´ll second that <morf> and <perfidous>. |
|
Jan-18-19
 | | moronovich: Wow,congrats <morf> ! You just took a big jump today.Something like 6.5 K ?
And the <Count> took a dive ): |
|
| Jan-18-19 | | Count Wedgemore: (Dramatic, overly sentimental music - FINAL SCENE) I took a major hit today....don't know if I can make it back...but you guys go ahead...I'll be fine...I just need some rest...It's all over for me...don't think I'll make it...but once a Champ always a Champ...They'll NEVER take that away from me! But they got me, those bastards...Fedoseev, he took a dive against the guy from the forest...those damn Russians...The fix was in from the start...I should have known...shouldn't have trusted them... <morf>, I'm proud of you, son. You've got what it takes...you're 2nd in the World Championship...you can do this, I know you can... And <moro>: look out for morfie boy, will you? He's a good kid...they'll try to ruin him...Beware of <Wally>, I think he's in cahoots with the Bookie.. And <Kynas>, a shrewd bastard that one. And don't let <Touch of Knight> fool you; that old fox knows what he's doing...and don't let <syd> trash talk you down..he'll try to break you..well, don't! Stay strong, never surrender.. You've gotta win this one...I'l be rootin' for ya...go on and win this without me...I know you can...WIN ONE FOR THE..GIPPER!! Arrgghh...+++ (The End..) |
|
| Jan-19-19 | | virginmind: Indeed sad news about the passing of <Domdaniel>...may his soul rest in peace. <moronovich> I've seen that <achieve> started posting again on <cg.com>, after a 3 years break. |
|
Jan-19-19
 | | moronovich: Good afternoon dear <virginmmind> !
Yes,very sad news about <Domdaniel> who undoubtful will be dearly missed. He certainly gave a lot to CG. I also noticed that<achieve> showded up a while ago and he would be very welcome to visit this place again and it was a relief to see his condition has improved. My old body is in a relatively good period and I was on the edge of phoning
JWH today, but went for Tata and postponed the idea to the rest day ;)
Meanwhile wife is in Herning were she, with good friends and colleques, shall see our national handball team vs Hungary. That leaves me with Tata were right now 16.15 a lot is going on.Fire on the boards and even Magnus is in danger…
Sorry to hear about your brother in laws accident. And I pray that he will get healed and get the best treatment. And last : Hopefully you and Maria too, will have the best weekend possible.See you around and take care my friend ! |
|
Jan-19-19
 | | moronovich: Hi <Count >!
Quite a dive you took yesterday, but dont dispair. There is all the time in the world to come back. You are still in contention and with many bucks on the count(pun intended) :).User <chnebelgrind> once won it all after starting out with 1K and almost 2 years ago I came close to winning it all, despite being down around -6K (!).So lot of possibilities yet and cheer up "old" pal.And you are right:no one can take that great effort away from you in 2018!All the best -moro-. |
|
| Jan-19-19 | | morfishine: Dear <moronovich> Our dear friend <Count Wedgemore> is quite the kidder, that was a very amusing post he made, which didn't fool me one bit. Just look, he made back half his losses in one round. Thats what champs are made of! As for me, I had a miserable 2 rounds losing 5,000 chessbucks in all, but I made it all back and then some with a 200 CB bet that paid 38-1 (7,600 CB's) which put me back in business. For me, its been difficult wagering at Tata: Predicting wins is hard enough, but guessing draws is hard too in this tournament! Make no mistake <Count Wedgemore> is in a class of his own at the bookie game and is the man to beat. Of course <moronovich> you yourself pose a formidable threat too and cannot be overlooked. Good Luck! |
|
| Jan-20-19 | | virginmind: Poor Kramnik, he's having a bad one...When was the last time he shared the bottom? While his traditional foe&friend is doing great at (nearly)50! Will he prove as challenging as, say, Korchnoi, at 50-70? If passion is the best engine ever invented...why not? Meanwhile all is well on the eastern front, or it so appears. Scarce snow flakes, with lows in the normal range so far. Preparing to celebrate mom at 83. Some chess and Australian Open in between. Life still looks great. Take care, <moronovich>. |
|
| Jan-20-19 | | virginmind: Mein Gott, and today Vlad got another beating, while Vishy won another game to share the lead with Magnus! This is getting serious... |
|
Jan-20-19
 | | moronovich: Yes,poor Kramnik.I feel for him and hope he can take it.So far many chessfans also
salute his gamblings, but I suppose there is a limit somewhere in the equation. Mosis turning 83 !..that is a high age and i send her the best wishes for the day and hope she will have good health! Great to hear life looks great and here it is about the same and quite atypical JWH and i have made a date for tomorrow which I am delightfully looking forward to and hope the stomach will cooperate.I dearly need to
exchange life and ideas with him again.
We see each other around every fortnight.
Weater is still a mild version of winter, but much better than nothing. See you around dear <virginmind> and you too take care s.v.p. p.s.:Nice with a break from Tata.Do you also see it that way ? |
|
Jan-20-19
 | | moronovich: Good evening <morfishine> ! Yes I noticed the Counts violines :) and he certainly is back in the game. And you too made a splendid comeback !
<Predicting wins is hard enough, but guessing draws is hard too in this tournament!> I think that summarizes this years Tata tournament very well. See you somewhere up the road. |
