 | | MissScarlett: If you search for games by players of the same name (e.g. https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che...) you get a duplicated list of games. Surely this can be rectified. |

 | | MissScarlett: Has this alternate score feature recently been (re)introduced? I mentioned its prior existence a few weeks ago. https://www.chessgames.com/perl/dup... |

Please make it so that I can do the live games from now on. |

Sorry about the late start to the Live Event yesterday, 100% my fault.
I'm taking extra precautions to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Soon, it will be completely automated🤞.
<Stone>, we now have the ability to delete a player with the"Edit PID" feature in the new player directory page ( [unknown player] ) |
|
Jan-26-22
 | | Stonehenge: 1. Thank you :)
2. Thank you :)
Just one thingy:
<168046|Hermann Karl Eduard Clemenz / Friedrich Amelung||0|||||||||||N> has been there for quite some time but when I search for player 168046 it says "Player record 168046 is not valid." |
|
Jan-26-22
 | | stevemcd87: <Stone> It seems if there isn't a "Short Name" associated to the player(s), it will show the "invalid" message.
I used the new feature to update the short name to the that pid and it works.
Feel free to update it again to something more appropriate |
|
Jan-26-22
 | | Stonehenge: Great, I was able to delete that pid. |

 | | Stonehenge: For players that were born more than a hundred years ago and of which the DOD isn't known, like Bernhard Richter, can we *please* get rid of this <.... years old nonsense>. Posts like <still alive?> etc. are getting a little bit stale. And stuff like <161 years old> is nonsensical anyway. Maybe the cut off should be 105 years old, to be on the safe side. |

Could you specify what a(ny) database gains by arbitrarily changing correct 'nonsense' to incorrect 'nonsense'?
For me that counter's 'behavior' (of decades) is neither misleading, nor do I see a point arguing against it with rare imaginary posts that are not even present for the player in question Bernhard Richter at the time of this writing. |

Jan-26-22
 | | Stonehenge: <Bernhard Richter
(born Nov-05-1860, DOD unknown) Germany> is no-nonsense.<Bernhard Richter
(born Nov-05-1860, 161 years old) Germany> is nonsense, or perhaps nonsensical is the better word. |

 | | Caisso: I had a question regarding how to start a game collection. I was wondering if someone could help me answer that question. Never done it |

This is (still) my reference
'Maybe the cut off should be 105 years old, to be on the safe side.' [that a human being at 106 is considered a corpse from now on]. Anybody's counter > 105 would get changed to DOD unknown - even players alive. Yeah, that would not produce trollish postings anymore. Again you remove good data with wrong data just to get rid of an objective taste. All I found was one single thread that looked to me like a very slow day in the office (no follow ups around that date by anyone) you came to a different 'solution' Martins Zvirbulis (kibitz #5) So were in the meantime are these other postings indicating there is a real problem with a working counter here to solve (and superior to e.g. born Nov-05-1860, 161 years old)?
From your profile @Caisso
NOTE: You do not have any game collections. To make one, visit a game and use the "Add Game to Collection" button found at the bottom of the page. Chessgames Help |

 | | Stonehenge: < [that a human being at 106 is considered a corpse from now on]. Anybody's counter 105 would get changed to DOD unknown - even players alive.> Dates are entered manually, I don't want to change that. I want to enter something like 0000.00.00 for the DOD and that the software changes it to DOD unknown. 105 seems entirely reasonable (yes, yes, there is an exception: Johan van Hulst). It's not that when I enter <DOD unknown> for a potentially 105 year old, that everyone notices that immediately. Get over it. |

Feb-01-22 | | Messiah: I simply <LOVE> the newest 500 Internal Server Errors! How sad I still cannot change my password. |

 | | stevemcd87: We noticed the Internal Server Errors were extremely bad today.
I am convinced we found the root of the problem(🤞😬🤞) due to the instant stop after our bug fix update at 2:34PM(GMT).
We will be keeping a close eye to confirm.
Feel free to report any future errors.
<Messiah>, I was able to update my password using the feature on the Preference page.
Do you receive an error? |

<Stephen> I sent you an email- I tried to send a correction slip today but it did not make it on to the editor's page. Might you please check to see if this is only my problem or a general problem and maybe tell me what is going wrong? |

Feb-02-22
 | | Stonehenge: I want to upload these two games but I'm getting a duplicate message in <Processed Submissions> [bad tournament link], tid=60958. Also, I believe that after a duplicate is being rejected, the game processor 'thinks' that <all> games of that batch have been rejected. So next time I upload a game it wants to process games that are already in the database from the latest batch. |
