Here for example Husein Aziz Nezad it said <International Master and FIDE Arbiter>. I don't think titles should be deleted. |

What AI responsible for this bit of fluff in Nezad's bio? <showcasing his skills against competitors from around the globe.> It's a bit too gushy, and should be deleted. Keep the bio's factual with color commentary only when necessary (with the exception for good clean humor asides on occasion - a la Phony). You can't go wrong if you copy <twinlark>'s style. |

(Aside- I even saw that SCID's documentation credits ChatGPT. Resistance is futile, all your chessbase belong to us!) |

Mar-17-24 | | Cassandro: <MissScarlett: This bio at Jan Roebers. Did you write that yourself?> This player's bio has also more or less the same ridiculous wording as the Roebers example <Miss S.> provided. Look here: Jan Vykouk <stevemcd87: I'd like to think it's an improvement. Would you prefer 2 word bios?> Compared to this nonsense, yes. |

 | | MissScarlett: Still doesn't make sense. Where did you get this puzzle from? I'm wondering why this odds game De Vere vs Lawrence, 1869 displays effectively as a 960 game. What is it about the removal of a second piece from the opening array? |

 | | Stonehenge: P Koppe vs K Richter, 1931. The PGN has <[ECO "B24"]>, which is correct but CG changed it to <A07>. I wish we would stop doing this. The Ecos in uploaded PGNs are usually correct, so let's go with that. |

Don't be too surprised.
You can use the site with VPN, though: the following page: Sign-in Page is reachable on VPN (at least it was reachable a several months ago, I have not checked it since), and after logging in on that exact page you will be offered with weird-lookin' and very insecure-lookin' cookies that will keep identifying you, so you can continue using the site while being on VPN. I am doing exactly this, for example. I guess it works on TOR, too, but I don't think I have experimented with it ever. Memories are fading. And let me draw the attention of the site admins/maintainers to: 1. the cookies are conjectured to be very insecure - I cannot prove that they are insecure, indeed, without actually exploiting their properties, and I will not do that. For the obvious reason I will keep the wording vague, not to help any real offenders who may read this kibitz. Also, please do not ban me for this observation/remark. 2. For tons of years I cannot change my password here, and it is conjectured that it is because of the trailing character of it. As you are storing the passwords in plaintext (:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD), you can inspect it yourselves. Please write a logic that handles that specific character correctly and let me change my password. Also, please do not ban me for this observation/remark. 3. As noted above, plaintext storage of passwords (:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD) is... hm... a little bit concerning. Also, please do not ban me for this observation/remark. 4. Why do you limit the passwords on 12 characters? OK I understand that the underlyin' SQL table definition where you are storing the passwords plaintext (:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD) does not allow longer passes, but it is not a rocket science to change that. Also, please do not ban me for this observation/remark. I know I will get b& for this commentary because you will think it is a personal attack, but please note your ostrich policy will not keep real attackers out. |
|
Mar-27-24 | | Messiah: Additional note for signing in: always put the 'www.' in front of 'chessgames.com', because the URL redirection is broken and cookies are handled differently when you are using exclusively 'www.' as a prefix and when you are not. |

Sorry for the long delay. We are now using a new authentication system. You will need to reauthenticate( Sign-in Page ) and verify your email to be able to update password( Password Page ) and email( Email Page ). Please let us know if you run into any issues.Once we verify the new auth pages are working for all browsers and devices, we will force everyone to reauthenticate. This upgrade does not only make our authentication more secure but also allows us to authenticate in the cloud, which will eventually allow us to greatly improve site speed(perhaps starting with the home page and game pages). Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns |

<As part of our premium membership benefits, we provide unrestricted site access to our members, even if they are using a VPN.>I don't have access if I use a VPN.>
Sorry for the delay. Currently, we need to manually enter users that have requested the use of VPNs(as we just did for your account). When we force all to reauthenticate, we will be able to allow all premium users to bypass some firewall restrictions(VPN being one). |
|
Apr-09-24 | | Messiah: <You will need to reauthenticate( Sign-in Page )> Thanks for the info. The reauthentication does not work. Currently I have no time to dig deep, but I guess the problem is the last character of the password. I will not (yet) request a password reset, as I am drowning in other tasks, will check it later. Anyway, thank you. |

It's not due to your password.
Feel free to email us at <chess@chessgames.com> for assistance.
Sorry for the inconvenience. |

There seems to be a few users getting the <Incorrect username or password> error.
We are now logging additional info(browser, device, etc...) to help debug this issue.
Please let us know when you have tried again so we can look into it.
Thanks for the help and sorry for the inconvenience. |
