 | | roberts partner: The scoretable shown above is a disaster for chessgames.com. The top three placings and totals are correct, below that the alleged scores are riddled with errors. Moro who scored 13 is credited with 14.5, Le 13.5>14, Aronian 14>13.5, Mame 13.5>13. The worst case is Gabriel Sargissian who, seeded only 32, had an outstanding tournament, was in medal contention for several rounds, and finished ninth with 13 points. Chessgames.com doesn't even put him in the top 30 and gives him only 9.5 points! Checking, I found that his wins against Laznicka, Lenic and Glek and his draw with Guljarro are all shown as losses, thus producing a massive deduction of 3.5 points from his real total. All other chess sites giving the final totals have them correct. Why can't chessgames.com? |

It takes time to transfer the result in this format. It's an example of inflexibility caused to adhering to traditions. The quality suffers, because it requires lots of extra work. I suggest CG to follow more flexible format. Then just copying from the main website will suffice. The popularity of CG will only gain. Otherwise as soon as there will be comarable but ore flexible website, people will immediately switch to this. |

| Jun-23-14 | | schweigzwang: From the "Too Much Time on My Hands" department: How much overlap among the opponents played by Carlsen, Nepom, and Naka in the blitz tourney? (data gathered by me, as accurately as I could, from the Chess-results web site) 1. They all played each other.
2. All three of them each played those finishing in spots 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 16, 27, 35. These last two were Meier and Lu, both of whom started out gangbusters but then faded. 3. The highest finishers not played by any of the three were 19 (Bacrot), 20 (Vitiugov), and positions 23-25, all five of whom scored 12.5/21. 4. The highest finisher who only played one of them was Svidler, who lost to Nepom in round 5. 5. Not counting each other, Carlsen and Naka had 13 of 20 opponents in common. Nepom+Naka = 12; Carlsen+Nepom = 11. |

Komarov's comments are a very nice guide to what's going on, I've gone through the rapids and the blitz rounds one time, and will do so again.
If FIDE/Dubai shuts them down, I hope someone posts them to YouTube before that happens. |

He has officially usurped the crown away from Naka as MC won the Norway chess blitz tourney last month & now he has won the world blitz championship. In both tourneys combined he only lost 1 game! |

That type of advantage is so overwhelming that it completely overshadows Naka's record in blitz tournaments and his ICC and other online records. He was unable to beat Naka in that tournament - perhaps it was because Carlsen had the disadvantage of playing white? Carlsen knocks over Naka's rook hits the clock and resets the piece on Naka's time after Naka pointed it out. Of course Naka, being too much the gentleman and true champion, gestures that what Carlsen did was wrong, but Naka plays on anyway. |

| | eternaloptimist: I just watched the video of the MC vs Naka game on youtube.com & indeed MC knocked over Naka's R but MC put it back on the square that it was on IMMEDIATELY so there's no way that prevented Naka from winning the game. The game was obviously a draw anyway. Therefore MC deserved to win this tourney.:

If the official sites provide reliable data, we are impeccable. But then there are cases like this one. <All other chess sites giving the final totals have them correct. Why can't chessgames.com?> These other chess sites, I imagine, copied the final totals from the official site. Which is very fine, if your only goal is is to present the final totals. However, we compute the final totals based on the games actually received. So when you say <I found that his wins against Laznicka, Lenic and Glek and his draw with Guljarro are all shown as losses> that's because the official site reported them as losses. The solution to this is not to hack the leaderboard so the results are right; we could indeed do that--but if we did, the games would still be wrong. We have to go find the games which are causing the discrepancies and change their results, hopefully some members can assist us using the correction-slip process. Once all of the games are right, the leaderboard will follow. I thank you for directing this matter to our attention. |
