Dec-05-14 | | PhilFeeley: <ex0duz: ...and he also win Norway 2013 outright with really aggressive/risky chess, ahead of Carlsen and a great lineup> While I agree the Chinese players have done really well lately, I am unfamiliar with the above achievement. Are you talking about Yu? This is the only Norway 2013 I could find: Norway Chess Tournament (2013)
As you can see Yu wasn't there and the only other Chinese player, Wang Hao, ended up at 50%. Perhaps you could clarify? |
|
Dec-05-14 | | schweigzwang: Wang Hao had the interesting result at Norway 2013 of defeating the highest rated player and losing to the lowest rated, but he also came away with some very interesting souvenir trousers so maybe it was all good in the end. |

 | | lostemperor: <PhilFeeley> <exOduz> probably means Wang Hao record vs Carlsen -3 +2 =1 and Hao winning Biel 2012 what is splendid indeed (despite losing both games to Carlsen)! http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... |

Dec-05-14 | | Wavy: Why am I reading Wesley vs Magnus in this thread? They are both not playing here. I remember Yu getting stuck at 2650 level for years. I was wondering when he can have his breakout performance. He is finally having his breakout performance now. |
|
Dec-05-14 | | Everett: 50 players have had break-out performances recently, yet there is only so much space in the top 10. |

 | | Troller: I have to tip my hat at <tolengoy>. Even after years of endless and repetitive trolling he can turn a totally unrelated forum into a Wesley vs Magnus discussion with lots of posters joining in. I have said it before and I say it again: <tolengoy> is reigning troll-king of cg.com, none above and none beside him. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <Troller> I agree and there is really no excuse for people continuing to give him a platform. |

Dec-06-14 | | bugabay: <Everett: 50 players have had break-out performances recently, yet there is only so much space in the top 10.> I tried my best to comprehend this statement but I failed... This is gotta be the dumbest of them all....bar none. |

Wesley get my thumbs up...too bad Magnus think Open tourneys are hard.... When you become a poker player celebrant...I will be your most vocal critics...but it's not going to happen because you quit when the tough got going...for all we know, quitters are losers...and we can tell from way further than a male dog smells a female dog in heat. |

It can even be funny to read, with all its discombobulated aquatic and tectonic metaphors and its non-aristotelian logic, as long as you don't take it seriously. |

 | | chancho: Tolengeezer's comments are pure unadulterated B.S.
And the years of repeating them have not changed the odor one iota. :-) |

No such animal, come to <Glenn The Fool>.> Such is a nature's way of giving a reason to commit to principles....stick with it no matter how it smells...it's the golden crown that makes a man a king...you might not know but <truth> is a splendored thing. |

Dec-07-14 | | bugabay: <Troller: I have to tip my hat at <tolengoy>.> And so do I....I am not taking the credit....I'm not tolengoy....I am only his shadow and just like the sun work, the only time I disappear is at noon time.... |

 | | chancho: Tip my hat off to a slimeridden cockroach like tolengeezer?? I'd rather tip my hat a thousand times over to people like <Keypusher, Karpova, Kingcrusher, JessicaFischerQueen, The Focus, Perfidious, Randomvisitor, AnnieK, PhonyBenoni>, and all the others who work in the Biographer's Bistro, and bring useful information, yes, the people who do the legwork to improve this site. Disrupting the site because some idiot like Glenn Salem has a man crush for Wesley So, and envies Magnus Carlsen, and who trolls about it on a daily basis, deserves no tip of the hat at all, but he surely deserves this for his trolling: https://thedonnybrookreport.files.w... |
|
Dec-07-14 | | john barleycorn: <bugabay: ....I'm not tolengoy....I am only his shadow...> You mean to say <...I am his only shadow...>. Anyway, time to acknowledge Yu's amazing feat in the strongest open ever putting the #1 and #2 seeded in a little box.
Very different from those "opens" where the #1 seeded is automatically the winner - e.g. Las Vegas, Turkey Shoot, Summer Sizzler and Chocolate Milk Drinker's open. |
|
Dec-07-14 | | kia0708: I',m impressed with Yu.
He won a strong tournament.
No defeats, six wins.
He defeated Giri and Kramnik. |

As you can see Yu wasn't there and the only other Chinese player, Wang Hao, ended up at 50%. Perhaps you could clarify?> Sorry, i meant Biel Chess Festival (2012), where he edged out Carlsen with a spectacular aggressive performance, which paid off since the format was 3-1-0 scoring. But yeah.. Carlsen would have won if it was the 'normal' scoring system(1/0.5/0, but it wasn't.. and thus why all the Carlsen fanbois were out in force after that.. haha This is one of my favourite tourney wins/comebacks/runs.. same as what Yu Yangyi had in Qatar.. winning in the last round to take the tourney, and against Kramnik no less! |
