Hichem Hamdouci has won the Moroccan Chess Championship 11 times. He earned the GM title in 1994. In 1995, 2002, and 2004, he won the Arab Chess Championship and the French Championship in 2013. He was the first Arab or African to reach a rating of over 2600 Elo (2615 in 2003).

  Honza Cervenka: Hamdouchi's performance in Torino after 10 rounds - 6,5 of 8 games without loss or 2719 is not bad at all. But next round he will face probably Kiril Georgiev, who seems to be in very good form too. It can be quite interesting game.
