May-26-04   Everett: This guy plays some of the strongest KIA against the Sicilian in GM play. No joke. See Minasian vs Ehlvest, 2004
Feb-19-05   whithergoes: Minasian is still perhaps the chess champion of the Soviet Union, having won the last USSR championship that concluded on 13 November 1991, just weeks before the USSR ceased to exist.
Feb-19-05   roni.chessman: Yeah and RADJABOV toppled him WOOHOO!!!!
Apr-14-05   WorldChampeen: Armenian Chess Federation website, http://www.armchess.am/
Nov-10-05   atripodi: <This guy plays some of the strongest KIA against the Sicilian in GM play. No joke.> Great game, but wrong Minasian I'm afraid. That game was played by Ara Minasian, currently ranked 13th in Armenia.

Is this the GM X that rushed forward with murder in his eyes? hahaha, too funny.

Davolni: <Gormally's action was fairly harmless, but he had violated one of the basic laws of nature and evolution, which says: never attack an Armenian. Immediately a random countryman of Aronian, whom we shall call GM X (and who happens to be a reserve player on the US team, rated 2575), rushed forward with murder in his eyes. Figuratively speaking, we believe.>

you read it, but not till the end. GM Artashes Minasian has nothing to do with US team. So it's not him.

and this subject is one of those talked over subjects, where there was a lot of arguements at the time it was happening. So don't open another "long" conversation.

bottom line. Gormalyy guy acted stupid, and he got punished for what he did. PERIOD.

by the way GM "Y" is Yasser Seirawan, in case you didn't read it till the end....

Feb-16-09   nhat8121: haha you're right, I somehow read "reserve on the US team" as "reserve on the Armenia team" instead.
Feb-16-09   nhat8121: yes, so that GM X is Akobian Varuzhan.
