Jun-18-04  Maroczy: Unless the pairings have changed Sulskis drew Macieja in the first round in Libya. Lithuania vs. Poland. A lot of history and animosity between these two former allies. The Battle of Grunwald, 15th century where Lithuania, Poland et al. kicked the future Nazi's ass:) I'll be rooting for Macieja.

Penguincw: Congrats to Sarunas Sulskis for winning his (9th?) Lithuanian championship. The championship was a 10-player single round robin with an average rating of 2366. Sulskis was the top seed at 2537, and was one of only 2 GMs competing (and one of 6 titled players). He finished with 7.5/9 (+6,-0,=3), a full point ahead of 2nd place Stremavicius, Titas.

He also gained 8.8 rating points for his 2620 TPR.
