Nov-12-06 | | refutor: i have 65 games from it... |
Nov-12-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> That's all but one game! Do the games have the proper round numbers? |
Nov-12-06 | | refutor: yes they do...the only reason i would be missing the one is that i purged my database of all games less than 15 moves (win, lose or draw). |
Nov-12-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> This is a big favor to ask, but do you think you could post the rounds with the list of games corresponding to each round? I don't need links or anything, just the correct order of games played. I'm looking to collect the Liege 1930 tournament. I already have the crosstable, and a cursory glance at the database shows that all the games are here. I just need to know in which round which games are played. You would have my eternal gratitude. |

Nov-12-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor: post on my page which games are missing and i can send them into chessgames> Will do. And thanks!! |
Nov-14-06 | | suenteus po 147: Here it is, complete: Game Collection: Liege 1930 Thanks, <refutor>!! |
Nov-21-06 | | suenteus po 147: Interesting. It appears that Tartakower won Hastings twice before his last time in 1945. He competed and won in 1926 and 1927. Yet only a few games are attributed to these tournaments. Does anyone have the PGNs for Hastings for those two years? |
Nov-21-06 | | refutor: i have 27 games from hastings 1927-28 and 45 games from hastings 1926-27. i'll send them this weekend |
Nov-22-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> I don't know where you get all these games, but thank you! |
Nov-22-06 | | refutor: which ones are missing? |
Nov-22-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> If I had the crosstable, I would tell you. I just know that some are. |
Nov-22-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> Let me do some research and get back to you. I'll try collecting all the games that are here so you can see what's missing. |
Nov-22-06 | | suenteus po 147: <refutor> Here are the games for Hastings 1926/27 currently in the database: A Teller vs Reti, 1926
A Teller vs George Marshall Norman, 1926 R P Michell vs A Teller, 1926
G A Thomas vs A Teller, 1926
A Teller vs Colle, 1926
A Teller vs V Berger, 1926
A Teller vs Tartakower, 1926
Yates vs A Teller, 1926
E G Sergeant vs A Teller, 1926
Colle vs Tartakower, 1926
Reti vs Tartakower, 1926
V Berger vs Colle, 1926
Yates vs Colle, 1926
That means that 32 games are missing. And I may even be wrong about one or two of the games, I think, because a few of these guys played in Hastings 1925/26 with Alekhine. |

Nov-23-06 | | suenteus po 147: <nescio> Thanks for the link! When I have more time I will explore it thoroughly. One of my goals is to complete Tartakower's collection in the database. |
Nov-23-06 | | nescio: <suenteus po 147: One of my goals is to complete Tartakower's collection in the database.> You aim high, that won't be a sinecure. He was an active player for 50 years. The book http://www.amazon.com/Games-Chess-1... contains a list of the (international) tournaments he played. |
Nov-23-06 | | suenteus po 147: <nescio> I will no doubt fail. But if I fail successfully (such as uploading a majority of games from international tournaments he participated in) then it will be worth it :) |

Aug-17-07 | | Karpova: <‘Das Schach und die Frauen’ by S. Tartakower on pages 122-125 of the January 1921 issue of Kagans Neueste Schachnachrichten. Below is an English translation:
‘The only reason why women have not yet achieved virtuosity in the field of chess is probably that chess is not a proper art but also depicts a battle with the aspiration of victory; attainment of victory always calls for a certain ruthlessness, which is precisely a feature far too little present in the fair sex.’ ‘Thus the connections between the gentle sex and our noble game are richly diverse, and while chess brightens up life, women brighten up chess.’> http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/... |
