 | | stevemcd87: <MissS> The eco for Blackburne vs W A Butler, 1908 has been recalculated to "C33".
The game originally uploaded with a typo,<3. Bc794>, which was updated to <3. Bc4>.<Jess> The "fix date bug" script has been updated to ensure that it doesn't effect older games( <Tab> stevemcd87 chessforum )
It should work from now on... if it doesn't, please provide a link to the game, to better debug... I will be running the script once a day, for now, as we test.
Eventually, I will update the "gameloader" script to handle this issue right away, among other issues. It's a heavy script. |

 | | Tabanus: I have a new work computer and can't find any more the editor page :) |
|
Sep-06-21
 | | stevemcd87: <Tab> Do you just need the link?
https://www.chessgames.com/editor.h...
or is the editor page not working for you anymore? |
|
Sep-06-21
 | | Tabanus: <steve> Just the link :) I'll send it from home, you can delete it now if you want. |

<Steve> That sounds good brah! I will certainly submit new reports if the bug comes up on any pgns I upload in future. |

 | | Stonehenge: European Championship (2021) is still missing games, but the standings aren't updated automatically anymore after uploading games. The problem may have begun after the intro was made. |
|
Sep-08-21
 | | Tabanus: <Stone> The standings is edited and should be correct all the way down to no. 180. With the consequence that the number of + - = (points) now has to be edited upon adding more games. I'm not done there yet, will add a lot more games later. |
|
Sep-08-21
 | | stevemcd87: <Stone> <Tab> I believe the system stops the automatic updates when someone manually edits the stands.
Has anyone manually updated it yet?
If so, we already created a script we can run manually to keep the event "points" up-to-date.
|
|
Sep-08-21
 | | Tabanus: <steve> I have manually updated hundres of swisses. <I believe the system stops the automatic updates when someone manually edits the stands.> That's exactly the purpose. The automatic updates only sorts by number of points. Data nerds, jeez. |
|
Sep-08-21
 | | Tabanus: Scripts... I fear those most of all.
That script won't know neither the unplayed draw points, unplayed win points, nor the tiebreak rules. Just knowing that such a script exists makes me shiver. |
|
Sep-08-21
 | | Tabanus: How does the script know that Karjakin did not play against Nepo yesterday but that their Round 1 game is postponed till Saturday? Get rid of that script too :) |
|
Sep-09-21
 | | Tabanus: Good morning. I may have misunderstood your intentions, but anyway: the standings should follow the official results table. For example, the European Championship (2021) should follow https://chess-results.com/tnr563954.... And it does, because I filled out the players' place number 180 times. Daniel has made a brilliant system here, please don't change it! In the beginning there existed a check box for nullifying the placements so that the number of points would decide again (regardless of how many games), but I convinced him to remove it. |
|
Sep-09-21
 | | Tabanus: <filled out the players' place number 180 times> This may sound tedious to you, but then do you know how many errors the pgns have? Most swiss pgns have duplicate or wrong player names and wrong game results. Almost all of them have unplayed 1/2 or + (1) points. Example: by following Daniel's prescription and filling out the place numbers, I easily found that G Antal vs Short, 2018 must have been a draw. I believe all other web sites including https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D0... have 1-0 :) |
|

 | | Tabanus: I have the impression I'm the only one editing CG swisses. If you want to practice, try for example Reykjavik Open (2008). Here's the results table: http://chess-results.com/tnr11080.a..., with Meier's 6.5/9. |

Has in almost 5 weeks since my last posting here one important bug been resolved or anything concrete been communicated what exactly is (still) causing the technical mishaps all over the place? Frankly I am mystified your employer (f/74, null IT/chess expertise, almost zero interest in the project) is quite taken with the 'progress' over especially the last three months. Whoever is briefing her on a regular basis is quite a magician/charmer. Kudos. Maybe what is left of the site is just doing very well with more than enough ad revenue and subscription money coming in. In reality it does not matter having several employees on constant payroll for this open-ended self-made cleanup. Speculating there is no financial pressure in bringing CG back to full functionality until there will be a real dip in profit. So far a sound tactical game with no cheapos. Heading straight to Armageddon. |

En passant Freeman 'went to work' removing me from the Editors in a heartbeat. At least point out a correlation between one and the other else it shows bad sportsmanship (which is fine). Thus upcoming CG youth can study and learn something from this case taking a long think beforehand, calculating if providing free contend to this arbitrary business is the best move in their position. We are all grown ups after all, aren't we? There are no regrets on my part. After long frustrating months I roughly understand what I am dealing with, knowing all too well numerous chess related contributions wouldn't count for anything. Hope holidays went well, heard the weather was brilliant. |

 | | stevemcd87: <login> I was the one that removed you from the editor list while removing <pepe>, not Susan.
I recall when I first added you ( chessgames.com chessforum ), saying you decline the offer.
I briefly checked your editing history and didn't see any edits, so I took you off.
After seeing your comments I took a deeper look into the editing history and saw an edit from you in June.
I added you back to the list.
It had nothing to do with you venting your frustration, most of the editors have done it at least once... no hard feelings.
Re "Occasional Internal Server Errors":
I'm constantly looking for the cause of the issue(I do notice them and understand the frustration it may cause), while <beatgiant> is working on utf-8 issue.
Sorry for the delay.
I recently completed the automated mailing system and would like to work on a tool for an editor to handle the GotD.
It would save me at least a half hour a day and I think the users may see an improvement in the quality of the GotD, also. |

 | | MissScarlett: My second <P + 2> W Stockil vs Falkbeer, 1862 game submission went the way of the first. Please recover it: W Stockil vs Falkbeer, 1862 Why can't the upload feature process null move game? Is it because its built upon the <Olga> viewer which doesn't recognise them? Is it feasible to correct <Olga> in this regard, or is it above your pay grade? |

 | | MissScarlett: <I recently completed the automated mailing system and would like to work on a tool for an editor to handle the GotD.> Good news. Once I'm in charge, incorrigible critics will be blacklisted and we'll all live happily ever after. |

Sep-12-21 | | Z truth 000000001: Seconded - null move would be a good feature to have. (Gotta get my 2ยข in whilst I can!) |

Sep-13-21
 | | Tabanus: I got a little geared up on the "script we can run manually to keep the event "points" up-to-date". I hope it does not affect the edited standings (no. 121, 122, 123, etc.). Also I don't know if it nullifies the added 1 and 1/2 points (which I think should be there, at least on the visible first 29). And what if a new player is added (this has happened many times), he/she will end up on top of the standings. In short, I think it should be done manually. I'll start adding games to European Championship (2021) soon. A lot of GM games (including upsets) are missing. About 952 games were played, of which about 868 are available for download. CG has 520 games, why not 868? Or, say, 720. The editing would be easier if at least 2/3 of swiss games are added in the first place. NB on all event pages with a table, I think it should say "x games", and not just the intransparent "games". |
|
Sep-13-21
 | | Tabanus: <login> There's been a lot of problems after the upgrade but I think the tech guys are about to solve them. The https://www.chessgames.com/editor.h... page is also working fine, for me at least. Have patience. You may be right about Susan, CG needs a hired chess editor! For presenting new events, live games, etc. |
