 | | Tabanus: <the visible first 29> 32 would be better. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 are good chess numbers. I requested 32 with Daniel a few times, he never replied :) I don't know if there's a tech reason for only 29. |

Can you process User: optimal play's game? He is opened by you, so I cannot do it. It's one of those pesky little bugs. |
|
Sep-14-21 | | optimal play: I have three outstanding.
Llewellyn Bentley Lancaster vs William Henry Jonas 1901 Francis J Wallis vs George H Foster 1901
Rico Mascarinas vs Ian Rogers 1979 |

 | | Tabanus: R Mascarinas vs I Rogers, 1979 Only this game showed up when I clicked on "optimal_play" in "Users:" Where are the other two games?? |
|
Sep-14-21 | | optimal play: You tell me.
I submitted them weeks ago! |

Sep-14-21 | | optimal play: Okay, you just want me to resubmit them?
Will do. |

 | | stevemcd87: <MissS> You now have the ability to select thew GotDs, god speed. https://www.chessgames.com/perl/sho...
It's a pretty basic feature, there isn't a way to remove a pun that was already chosen, so choose wisely.
I chose the GotD for next few days while testing the feature.
Let me know if you have any questions.
<Tab> We are missing 2 games from <Meier> in Reykjavik Open (2008) (round 8 and 9), among others.
Is there a good source to look for the missing games?
I'm still trying to understand how some of these events work, I've been trying to get familiar with them. I just found out about the "bye points". |

 | | MissScarlett: I notice there are listed puns that have already been used. They should be automatically deleted. I should also have the facility to delete puns I consider beneath the pale. That will probably be of the order of 95%. |
|
Sep-18-21
 | | OhioChessFan: <That will probably be of the order of 95%.> On this historic occasion, I agree with you.
That said, you're a terrible choice to run GotD as your ignorance of American pop culture has in the past, and surely will in the future, cause you to not appreciate great puns. |

 | | Stonehenge: I couldn't resist uploading Sam White vs Steve Christmas, 2018 but it isn't very good. |
|
Sep-18-21
 | | MissScarlett: I should make it clear that I intend to elevate the <POTD>, ooops, <GOTD> feature to a higher cultural plane. The lowbrow Americana era is OVER! Incidentally, Steve, if I must work in a (no offence) sewer, where my sensibilities will be continually under assault by rancid wordplay, I would prefer it not to be an open one. I need privacy! |

 | | MissScarlett: <I couldn't resist uploading Sam White vs Steve Christmas, 2018 but it isn't very good.> Bing Crosby, Schming Crosby....how about something by Walt Whitman? |

Sep-18-21
 | | Tabanus: <Steve> I'm halfway planning to go through the Reykjavik Open's. I guess there are many games missing from most of the RO years. RO used Chess-Results as pairings and results program but I think they seldom or never uploaded games to it. Which leaves 365Chess, ChessBase, FIDE, and others, many of which one has to pay for. The official tournament pages are often dead links, but I've had success several times in finding games in the https://archive.org/web/ versions of the official site. On Reykjavik Open 2008 I don't know (yet). It's not much left of the archived home page, see https://web.archive.org/web/2008031... |

 | | Tabanus: http://chess-results.com/tnr11080.a... says about 400 games, CG has 364 and the missing games may have been deliberately left out in this case. ChessBase may have all the games. I only have ChessBase "Big Database 2006" at home. Else, <Z> may know more. Meiers two games may also exist only in some printed (German) publication. |

 | | MissScarlett: Of late, the Analysis feature works less often than not, however many times you refresh it. Disappointing! |

<Stephen>
P Izmailov vs N Grigoriev, 1929 Are we going to follow through on solving this problem? The interim solution was constructing a red ink instruction on how to change the viewer to <pgn4web>, but as you see that has not been done in this case. So I think you need to write a code that will automatically produce the red ink instructions on changing the chess viewer on such fragments? Better yet would be to write script to enable <Olga> to show fragments. Or is that impossible now that the <Olga> creators have gone mental and abandoned their promising viewer, that has turned to crap because they couldn't be arsed to finish building it properly? |
|
Sep-19-21 | | Z truth 000000001: <JFQ> see my post on that game's page. (Not an Olga problem really) |

 | | MissScarlett: Time's getting short.....if I used the first week of my new position to select only my puns, would that be considered an abuse of office? |
|
Sep-19-21
 | | OhioChessFan: No, but 5 of them would be excoriated by the crowd. <steve>, really, you've made a terrible choice here. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Ohio> do you mean <MissScarlett>? On a rare serious note, I don't think so. Over the past year or so I have gotten some substantial help from her on various projects, and I can report this: although she likes to talk smack, when she gets down to actual cases she is "all bidness." She has my vote to get any kind of administrative powers they give her. I have 100 percent faith she would not abuse those powers, though she would certainly publicly- and falsely- post that she was abusing those powers. This math formula written by popular rapper <Birdman> will help explain: "Bidness take care a Bidness" |
