 | | MissScarlett: Remember you were meant to be expanding the size of my user profile: User: MissScarlett Can't add any more names. |
|
Dec-02-22 | | stone free or die: <Missy> What's wrong with migrating all the names to a collection? It would make it easy to scroll down to see your recent posts - kinda one of the purposes of the profile. (Obviously I don't like the recent <infinite scroll> fashion on the internet) |

 | | stevemcd87: <Remember you were meant to be expanding the size of my user profile> <MissS> Currently, the user profiles are at its maximum size allowed by MySQL(CG's Database).
We would like to figure out a better method to store profiles for users, players, and game collections that will allow more content... hopefully by 2024🤞. |

 | | jnpope: Someone has been pooping in the tournament index (see events 7, 30, 32 and 50 for example). Tournament Index
If we are going to start adding Simuls and Blindfold Simuls into the tournament index can we at least require the events to have better names? For example, event 50 could/should be renamed from Blindfold simul, 6b (1867) to "Steinitz Blindfold simul, 6b Dundee (1867)"; or something similar, just so it shows up in the index as a distinct and informative name? As these do not appear to have been added by one of the volunteer editors I can only presume that it was done by CG staff. |

 | | jnpope: Susan Freeman chessforum (kibitz #432) <Jan-06-23 jnpope: <Susan>, we are starting to run low on dedicated Biographers in the Bistro and if I'm going to hang around I may as well be useful when I can be, so I wouldn't be opposed to having expanded abilities in the same vein as User: jessicafischerqueen, User: MissScarlett and User: Stonehenge to add/modify source tags and to fix move errors (i.e. becoming a super-editor).>
<Jan-11-23 Susan Freeman: <jnpope> I see no reason to not grant you that. Let me talk to Steve. Thank you for your offer>
Any movement on this? |

 | | stevemcd87: Hello <jnpope>:
Sorry for the delayed response.
We're working on updating our editing features to better revert mistakes if/when they happen.
Our updated Players Page will be done first, with it will be an updated version of the Player editing features, which you will have access to.
We will then update the Games page and it's editing features, saving events page for last.
Thanks for reaching out. We will try to get you going as soon as possible |
|
Jan-27-23
 | | jnpope: Great. Thanks! |

 | | jnpope: <stevemcd87>, any chance you can upgrade my user abilities sooner rather than later? I just need my account permissions upgraded to the same level as User: jessicafischerqueen, User: Stonehenge, or User: MissScarlett as I believe we are down to just one active super-user in the Biographer Bistro at this point in time and I'm sure <MissScarlett> is getting tired of making updates on my behalf. |

Sorry for the delayed response, we're working tirelessly to get the player page up. Our current editor page is a bit dangerous. We think it's best for you to wait a bit longer to avoid any potentially disastrous mistakes that may occur(e.g accidentally deleting an important user).
The old editor page will no longer be available once we roll out the new player page. This will ensure future database edits will invalidate cache, update metadata, etc.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Re <new player page>:
Below is a link to a video of the new player page at it's current state:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R7... Notes (styling is still needed throughout the page):
- The bio section will have a "Read More" button for lengthy bios
- We've added a "Guess-the-Move" icon(?) and a "Game Type" column
- The games table will have a filter for each column. We've spent a fair amount of time trying to get the games table to be as useful as possible, I hope it's well enjoyed when the time comes TO DO:
- Complete Kibitzing section's functionality
- Player Editing Feature
- Photo caption
- NOTABLE GAMES
- WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (not working)
- NOTABLE TOURNAMENTS
- GAME COLLECTIONS

 | | jnpope: As a volunteer editor I can already make changes to player and event bios (the big text boxes you are getting to show/hide more content). None of what you mention as releasing soon seems to help solve the current problem. What I need to be able to do is approve PGN game uploads, fix errors in the PGN data and modify existing PGN data (i.e. the role currently be held down by a single active super-user User: MissScarlett). If he goes MIA then the work being done through the Biographer Bistro stops. So unless you are uploading new functionality in the next few days that will grant me that ability, then you may has well upgrade my editor abilities to match those of User: MissScarlett and then we can continue to use the old tool set until the new stuff is ready. I'm a recently retired full-stack developer who has been coding websites since the Mosaic days, if JFQ, Stonehenge and MissScarlett could figure it out without breaking things I'm fairly certain I can too. |
|
Feb-10-23
 | | jnpope: You are aware of the upload utility:
PGN Upload Utility
And that super-editors, like <MissScarlett> approve those games: https://www.chessgames.com/editor.h...
Are you uploading new versions of these tools in the next few days? If not, how long? And if that time is greater than a week, then please just upgrade my account permissions to the same level as <MissScarlett>. |
|
Feb-17-23
 | | stevemcd87: <jnpope>
We've given you super-editor access.
The <?>s on the top-right of the editor page, and correction slips, contain the documentation for it's section(e.g Game slips will explain the game editing feature). They're a bit outdated so feel free to ask any questions. If you feel as if one of the features are not working as intended, please let us know and we'll get it fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks for the help, sorry for the delay. |
