Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-08-09  whiteshark: Tournament page: http://www.cappelle-chess.fr/en/def...
Mar-08-09  whiteshark: News <The 2009-02-25> Open finished
Mar-09-09  Ragh: <whiteshark> You mean the open closed?!
Mar-09-09  whiteshark: <Ragh> It might well be. Actually it was only a quote from the French tournament page and the French -you may know- are often 'unconventional' when using the English language.

Mar-09-09  whiteshark: Well it's not only the French havin' a hard time with En'lish.

<Open completed> would have been my choise

<Open ended>
<Open terminated> sounds crude...

Mar-09-09  Valmy: Well, I would say <Open Completed> but I am french.. I wuould think <Open finished> is correct and means the same, isn't it?
Mar-09-09  Ragh: Well, <Open ended> has a different meaning of its own altogether.. http://www.answers.com/open-ended

May be <Open closed> is better ;)

Mar-11-09  WhiteRook48: is it over?
Mar-11-09  waustad: Hammer got another GM norm. Actually I think he already got enough for the title earlier this year.
Mar-12-09  crwynn: What's wrong with "open finished"? I mean, with "finished". The heading is certainly not good english idiom, but that is true no matter how you translate "termine".
Mar-24-10  DiscoJew: Yuri Vovk won with the sterling 7.5/9
