Doesn't Irina know that she's not supposed to beat a GM from the Black side of the board? The Chessbookie leg's just started, and there goes my money :D |

We had an after-party (drinks paid by the Edmonton Chess Club) attended by all the GMs, IMs Krush and Piasetski, some of the local players plus Organizers (ahem) and spectators. GM Short, GM Mikhalevski, IMs Krush and Piasetski have all said that they want to come back next year for the 8th Edmonton International...so that's a good sign for a first-time Organizer of this tourney. I had to leave the dinner early to catch a plane to Arkansas (of all places), but luckily my girlfriend packed the WRONG PASSPORT so I have time to write this comment in the back of a taxi, trying to get my passport and get back to the airport in time...
I love her, but it was the wrong passport! :)
Anyway, the tournament went as well as I could have hoped. I'll definitely be back next year, here on Chessgames.com for the 8th edition of this tournament. In the meantime, I'm sure I'll be commenting/arguing about the major tournaments posted here.

Nooo, but another family member's passport was in the same place. Not her fault, I should have packed it myself, but I was so busy with the International tournament...
Anyway, now I'm ina taxi back to the airport with the RIGHT passport.Short, Krush and the others fly out tomorrow morning. I'm feeling very satisfied with the tournament overall. |

| | HeMateMe: Nice story from CB. Wouldn't it be cool if the chess lectures could be a virtual event? You know, log on, and either your computer monitor or flat screen TV gives you a view of the stage, with audio? Even better would be if you can adjust the camera angle to zoom, or take a panaramic view of the whole room. I guess we'll have to wait until robot P.A.s are doing our shopping for us, at the grocery store. |
