|Dec-25-06|| ||BIDMONFA: Ekaterina Korbut|
|Dec-27-07|| ||Udit Narayan: Here are some more photos of her:
|Jan-05-08|| ||Udit Narayan: In this photo she is on the right (vs. Tatiana Shadrina):
|Jan-05-08|| ||paulalbert: The photo that your link connects to shows Nadezhda Kosintseva on the left. Paul Albert|
|Jan-05-08|| ||Udit Narayan: <paulalbert> Thanks for correction.|
|Feb-22-08|| ||Udit Narayan: Whenever I recall the incident from this game, Korbut vs N Pogonina, 2007,
I still feel incredible pain. Losing a game because you mobile rings must be the worst feeling in the world!!! (especially if you have a promising position) |
That loss cost her from winning the tournament.
|Feb-09-09|| ||brankat: Happy Birthday Ekaterina!|
|Feb-26-10|| ||JohnstownChess: She was one of the instructers on ICC...|
|Mar-11-10|| ||percyblakeney: Korbut hasn't played a rated game since 2008, when she played for the Russian team in the Olympiad and in a match against China. In the latter she won in 25 moves with black against the latest Grand Prix winner (and World Champion 2006-08) Xu Yuhua. In December 2006 she won the Russian Superfinal ahead of Kosintsevas, Galliamova etc, but for some reason she seems to have stopped playing, at least for the moment.|
|Mar-11-10|| ||HeMateMe: Wasn't she the first player to compete in the Olympics, first as a gymnast, then as a figure skater? I thought I saw her profiled on "60 Minutes."|
|Mar-11-10|| ||whiteshark: <he#me> No, you meant Olga Korbut.|
|Mar-31-12|| ||Peligroso Patzer: <Hot Logic: Now the new Russian women's Champion [for 2006] with 8/11 ahead of both Kosintseva sisters and Elena Tairova with 7.5/11. ***>|
This achievement should be mentioned in her bio on this page.
But for an unfortunate mobile-phone contretemps: Korbut vs N Pogonina, 2007, Korbut would have repeated as Russian Champion in 2007.
|Apr-01-12|| ||Karpova: According to http://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?ev... her last rated game was played in April, 2009|
|Oct-12-13|| ||whiteshark: According to http://immortalchess.net/forum/show... she is married and has a daughter.|
|Oct-12-13|| ||dx9293: Thanks <whiteshark>. I wondered what happened to her. Even though she is practically the same age as Pogonina, Kosteniuk, the Kosintsevas, Ushenina, Sebag, etc. she has been retired for several years already.|
Actually, in Fall 2009 I contacted "Kate" for some lessons on ICC (I saw her ad on the Services page, liked her approach, and wanted to try a female coach for a change). We never got to do any lessons unfortunately because our schedules didn't mesh and it seemed like she was busy with other things.
|Feb-09-16|| ||TheFocus: Happy birthday, GM Katerina Korbut.|
|Feb-21-18|| ||whiteshark: More addition to the family... https://ok.ru/profile/815290864|
