 | | Troller: <Shams: So, who is Moldova's *second* strongest player?> Why, that would be Viorel Iordachescu |
|
Aug-02-12 | | Shams: <Troller> You're on top of things. |

Oct-17-12 | | jancotianno: Bologan seems to be losing a lot recently. |

Dec-14-12 | | brankat: Happy Birthday! |

Feb-09-13 | | Tomlinsky: On his Chessbase DVD 'English 1 c4 c5 for Black' Viktor Bologan mentions a blitz match he had online with Fischer in 2005. It is a couple of minutes into the clip on the 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.g3 g6 4.Bg2 Bg7 5.Nc3 e6 6.a3 variation. Does anyone have any more information, or games, related to this 'event'? |

Jan-31-15 | | PhilFeeley: In the second tier at the halfway round at Gibraltar, 3.5/4. Next up: Svidler. This is a real test of a come-back. |

 | | FSR: I was the one who nominated it. It finished a close second. <Tremendous> book, sheer genius. Incredibly thorough (he gives <two> lines against each of White's main tries), brilliant organization, and unlike most authors he understands that most players aren't going to have time to read his whole book - so he tells you the most important things, the stuff you <need> to know, separately. Just a wonderful book! And I don't even play either side of 1.e4 e5. |

 | | perfidious: <FSR> Though as you well know, I am no longer an active player, just ordered a copy of this work by Bologan--still like to read good stuff wherever I can find it! |

Nov-09-15 | | SimplicityRichard: Unfortunately the photograph of GM Bologan used on his profile is a poor choice in my opinion; this is simply because his face is almost completely hidden and one who doesn't know or has never seen Victor would be nonplussed.# |

 | | offramp: <SimplicityRichard: Unfortunately the photograph of GM Bologan used on his profile is a poor choice> You are right. It is 80% hand! Perhaps User: bidmonfa could help. |

Nov-24-15 | | Hawkman: "While Levon Aronian's result was one of the best of the tournament, Victor Bologan's performance was even better with a 2845 TPR" http://en.chessbase.com/post/etcc-r... Congrats! |
|
Dec-14-16 | | PhilFeeley: Happy birthday, Victor! Here's hoping for a better photo. |
|
Dec-14-19 | | virginmind: Apparently since more than a year and a half Victor Bologan doesn't participate anymore in classical chess events. I see his rating dropped as low as 2574, while in the past 20 years or so it was above 2600 (peaking at 2734 in 2012 I think). I hope he is OK and no health issues - by the way, many happy returns of the day, today he is 48 yo! Just found he participated in a simul against kids this autumn, in Chisinau. https://academiabologan.md/2019/10/... |

 | | eternaloptimist: Happy 52nd birthday to GM Bologan! He used to b a 2700+ player but I don’t think he’s won a tournament since the Chebanenko Memorial KO way back in 2012! He was tied for 1st after all the classical games had been played @ the 16th Karpov Poikovsky in 2015 but Korobov won the tiebreak. I know he’s middle aged now but man I don’t think he’s won a tournament in 11 years! 😮 That’s amazing for a guy who used to hv a 2700+ rating. He is a world renowned theoretician like it says in his profile on this page tho. He definitely knows his openings |

Dec-14-23
 | | tamar: Well past time to put his most sensational result, Dortmund Sparkassen (2003) on his list of notable tournaments. |
|
Dec-14-23
 | | plang: Yes, that is quite an omission. |
|
Dec-14-23
 | | eternaloptimist: <tamar> Thanks for your kibitz! That was a fantastic tournament victory for Bologan against an extremely strong field of players!
<plang> I agree! |
