Aug-19-03   pawntificator: Ok, you got me. Dang. That's not really me. I was the one that took the picture!! heh heh
Aug-19-03   sleepkid: I'd be kind of glad not to be one of those people in the background. Neither of them look like they've had a date in a while. . . ;-)
Apr-21-04   Cerebrate2006: This guy is pretty cool, ealier in the month he played an exhibition match again naka. He drank around 9 beers during the game, so the game became kinda wild

AdrianP: Federowicz, player of the day, and DeFirmian have a new book out on the English Attack in the Najdorf. I bought it; you shouldn't (it's not much more than a lightly annotated database dump) - Tapani Sammalvuo's new book on the English Attack (Gambit) is, on the other hand, excellent.
May-12-05   Stark Raving Mad: What does Fed do for a living?
May-12-05   paiyot: <AdrianP> i agree with you. wish i could get full refund on the defirmian/federowicz book. tapani's sammalvuo's book on the english attack is the best!

Joshka: When John placed first in 1990 Wijk aan Zee, this was the B group?.....or C?......
Jan-20-08   nescio: <Joshka: When John placed first in 1990 Wijk aan Zee, this was the B group?.....or C?......>

B-group. There wasn't a C-group in 1990.

Consequently he played in the A-group in 1991 and finished in the bottom half.

Apr-19-08   AmyBeercondo: Looks like Fed's lost weight, is this a new photo? Could it be the South Bronx Shore Diet, no beer or twinkies?

Strongest Force: AmyBeercondo, Fed had to be in early 20 here... this is when he started hanging at the pubs around NYU... he lives in the area now... right around the corner from Fischer's sister's mother-inlaw.
Apr-19-08   Jim Bartle: I'd think the "IM" on the sign would be a clear hint it's not too recent.
Apr-28-08   Granny O Doul: <Jim Bartle> Not to mention the ash tray.
May-13-08   Riverbeast: Good luck in the US Championship John...Some of us are hoping you can pull off a run like you did at the New York Open

Strongest Force: Happy birthday Fed! I'll be playing in the park soon. When you walk by, maybe we can hit the pubs like in the old days.

HeMateMe: Hmmm, no comments on Fed-player-of-the-day? I remember an article in chess life, where Fed was the trainer for a squad of US Juniors, playing south, maybe brazil. He said he badly wrecked a brand new pair of Nikes going through deep mud, doing something vitally important for the chess cause. Said the USCF was too cheap to reimburse him for the shoes. I thought that was funny. Maybe the USCF has to sell some more Informants. Fed probably got lost on his way home one night.
Sep-27-09   DarthStapler: I met him at the World Open once

swordfish: Fedorowicz got crushed as White in the final round of this year's US Open, by Eric Rosen, a junior whose rating was just under 2200 USCF (and is now over that mark). Unfortunately, I don't know how to upload games to this site, but it is an interesting one.
