chessgames.com: We'll get the Australian championship games soon, don't worry. But refutor was referring to this : PGN Upload Utility
Oct-27-04   azaris: Asked of IM Gary Lane in his column:

"I am a little curious that the score between Short and Kasparov is 15˝–˝ in Kasparov’s favour. How is such a score possible?"

The answer:

"Apparently, in the game in question Nigel swapped all the pieces off and Kasparov had no choice but to take the draw."

Oct-27-04   Dionyseus: Hehe Azaris.
Oct-28-04   WMD: Today's victory over Short sits nicely with his defeat of Adams: G Lane vs Adams, 1993.
Oct-29-04   azaris: I see he did beat Short and with Black no less. Bravo!
Dec-03-04   azaris: Gary Lane annotates his recent victory over Nigel Short in the Calvia 2004 Chess Olympiad:

Where is my mind: Gary Lane won the 2005 Oceania Zonal Tournament. See http://www.globalchessenterprises.c... qualifying for the next World Championship knock out Tournament.
Apr-09-05   acdc: Could Lane be the next world champion? He seems a very good player.
Apr-09-05   Phoenix: I was going to say "no way", but then I noticed <Where is my mind>'s comment, "World Championship knock out Tournament." So he's got about as good a chance as anyone. GO Gary, go!

tpstar: <Phoenix> You missed your messages in the KC = <AgentRgent> would like you to stop ignoring him, please. In return, he promises not to mention Terri Schiavo again. Really.
Apr-09-05   aw1988: Isn't this the man who writes "Opening Lanes"? I enjoy his columns very much.
Apr-22-05   Rocafella: Never heard of this guy, but I respect all chess players... So Good Luck to him.. in the future
Apr-22-05   Phoenix: Thanks for passing on the message, <tpstar>.
Jun-28-05   samvega: <aw1988> I can recommend his book Winning Moves, a tactical exercise book. Let me qualify my recommendation though -- the book is weighted towards easier examples. Good enough anyway for a train or plane or waiting room.
Nov-30-05   larrewl: Lane may have gotten a Round 1 bye as a result of Akopian's illness but he's already lost the first game of Round 2 to Baadur Jobava of Georgia. I think his WCC 2005 luck has run out.
Nov-30-05   alicefujimori: Gary Lane actually wrote some nice chess books. "Winning with the Scotch" was one of them. Although that book was written in 1991-1992, a lot of the theory in there are still relevant today.
Dec-05-05   tintin: Yes, he has been knocked out, what a shame. But at least the SOCCEROOS are in the WORLD CUP, hooray! I love your message <Phoenix>, "Go Gary, go!", Classic! (or perhaps you haven't seen the ad and it wasn't supposed to be a joke?)
Mar-03-06   BelgianBeer: I have a couple of his recent puzzle books called Find the winning move and Find the Checkmate published by Batsford. They are rather good and worth reading.

YouRang: <BelgianBeer> I bought that 'Find the Winning Move' book too. I enjoyed it, but there were a number of errors in it.
