Mar-03-06  BelgianBeer: I have a couple of his recent puzzle books called Find the winning move and Find the Checkmate published by Batsford. They are rather good and worth reading.
Mar-03-06  YouRang: <BelgianBeer> I bought that 'Find the Winning Move' book too. I enjoyed it, but there were a number of errors in it.

<BelgianBeer>I also have those books as well. I am currently working my way through them.

I have actually met Gary. He married the daughter of Brian Jones, who runs the Australian Chess Enterprises shop, which is a 10 minute drive from where I live. I dropped in one day to have a look, and found him minding the store! We had a good chat for about 30 minutes on all sorts of topics. He is a very nice chap!

Jul-05-12  Nightsurfer: <Gary W Lane> has written an inspiring book, namely <"The Ultimate Closed Sicilian"> - you will find a review here: http://seagaard.dk/review/eng/bo_op... - , and <"the standard attack"> that has been the main theme of <"The Ultimate Closed Sicilian"> , that has been the leitmotiv of the encounter R Gralla vs J Groetzbach, 2009 , with the result that <"the standard attack"> has worked out some painful goofs by White player notwithstanding!
Nov-04-16  TheFocus: Happy birthday, Gary Lane.
