HeMateMe: CNN says that Norway has a sex-themed park called Vigeland, in Oslo. I thought those folks in Norway were pretty reserved, but you just never know, now do you?

Well, that's my fourth third round loss in a row #funfact>

Feb-04-15  bobthebob: <I've seen Brilliant moves, I've seen (and played) some God awful moves, I even seen illegal moves.>

Well, in this case I don't think Carlsen tried any illegal moves. Unlike ...

Game Collection: Carlsen's cheating attempts

In this case, I think he was overconfident and not respecting his opponent's skill - so he tried to be Tal-like thinking he could work his way out of a bad position after his attempt to bluff his opponent failed.

Feb-04-15  alfamikewhiskey: Sex-theme is a bit rich (<https://www.google.no/?gws_rd=ssl#q...>), but nudity is omnipresent. It actually bugs a tourist or two.

Apropos fun fact: A couple of the scenes from the 1983 film Gorky Park were not shot i Moscow, or the Eastern Europe, at all, but in, yep, the Vigeland Park. Off-off topic OFC.

HeMateMe: I loved that movie, intriguing.
Feb-04-15  jphamlore: Norway also has some fantastic contract bridge players, although I think a couple of them, Helgemo and Helness, now play for Monaco.

Back to playing the buffoon, Bob? Shall I dredge up some more of your past idiocies re Carlsen?

I'm sure Carlsen hates losing, but his defeats don't seem to do him nearly as much harm as they do to you.

Feb-04-15  jphamlore: At least one can't accuse Carlsen of becoming a boring draw machine post-championship.
Feb-04-15  suenteus po 147: <keypusher> I loved your post about coming to a better understanding of how we define what we mean when we say "positional" or "tactical" to describe a player's style. Very thoughtful, with some great criteria to chew over.
Feb-04-15  1d410: If you don't have command of both positional and tactical chess you can't be on top.
Feb-04-15  jphamlore: And then there's this way of thinking at the chess board that Botvinnik derided:

https://mccreadyandchess.wordpress....

<Botvinnik: 'As far as Garik [Kasparov] was concerned, I immediately came to blows with him. For he first made a move and only then thought about it. While the proper order is, as you know, the other way around. 'Watch out', I used to say to him, 'if you go on like this you’ll become a Taimanov or a Larsen. Garik' (!?). These two were the same even when they were grandmasters -first move, then think. Now young Garik was very insulted by this, because he wanted to be an Alekhine'>

Feb-05-15  Severin: Caruana faces his nemesis Michael Adams next round.

<Michael Adams beat Fabiano Caruana 6 to 2, with 2 draws.>

Feb-05-15  bulibug: <I've seen Brilliant moves, I've seen (and played) some God awful moves, I even seen illegal moves.>

I've seen a weak viking discarded down the deep ravine....

Feb-05-15  Appaz: <<HeMateMe> CNN says that Norway has a sex-themed park called Vigeland, in Oslo. I thought those folks in Norway were pretty reserved, but you just never know, now do you?>

An artists celebration of human life, activity and body is pornography to an American, no surprise there.

If Gustav Vigeland had filled the park with humans mutilating each other, no American would probably have bat an eyelid. Except if they where naked doing so, of course.

HeMateMe: CNN was deceptive in it's reporting. If someone tells an American there is a "sex themed park", they see that as a water park, or amusement park--it is there for participation.

I knew it couldn't be true.

Feb-05-15  pinoy king: Carlsen needs his daddy when he loses. Acts like a little baby.
Feb-05-15  kummatmebro: He can act however he wants when he is probably going to keep the world title until atleast 2020

HeMateMe: I say he keeps it until age 35. No one around right now can beat him. The 15 year olds, Wie Yi and Atemisov, might be the one's to catch him.

Caruana will be karpov's Korchnoi.

Feb-05-15  Absentee: <HeMateMe: Caruana will be karpov's Korchnoi.>

I believe Karpov's Korchnoi was Korchnoi.

Feb-05-15  Sokrates: Vigeland Park - see for yourself: http://www.vigeland.museum.no/en/co...

It's works of art that cannot be explained by one-liners.

perfidious: <plang: ...but I'll have to remember that one...next time I lose a game of chess it is because "I'm experimenting">

Perhaps you were 'hiding prep', or in certain regions, the sea air had its effects--never mind that you were far away from any ocean!!

Feb-05-15  Imran Iskandar: Quite excited by the Anand-Carlsen one-game rematch.

On a different note, I feel like Caruana's not preparing his openings enough. Maybe he's just playing too many tournaments in a period of time.

Feb-05-15  anandrulez: There is a possibility of over exhaustion for Caruana. Aronian also seems to be exhausted. Intelligence is a limited resource like many other resources.

Anand is not playing creative chess as far as I can see .Its still good for top 10 level though. His draw/error rate has become very high which is worrisome. However I think that is something you should expect from a player at 45. Age waits for none.

Feb-05-15  Octavia: <Age waits for none.> lol - agist
