My condolences to his family.

Jul-30-18  qkxwsm: RIP Daniel Freeman.

Thank you for such a nice website.

Jul-30-18  nok: <Nok, I think Daniel was <Sneaky>>

That's a bit surprising. From Biographer Bistro (kibitz #18679) :

<Jul-20-18   chessgames.com: if I said "I live 90 minutes from Miami" I am not being ambiguous.>

<Jul-20-18   Sneaky: That's entirely ambiguous! 90 minutes by airplane? By automobile? By foot?>

The site will continue in his legacy.

<Sneaky>

I honestly thought <Sneaky> was a different person. But <Sneaky> hasn't kibitzed since Jul/21. Is <Sneaky> honestly Daniel Freeman incognito?

Jul-30-18  WinKing: I will miss Daniel RIP. We conversed many times by e-mail & it was always a pleasure. My condolences go out to his family.

  chancho: Can't believe the news of Daniel's passing, but we all get the call in the end.

Daniel 12:2 - And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.

Rest in Peace, Daniel.

Jul-30-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: <Sargon: Farewell, my friend <Sneaky>. We'll meet again someday in <glory>. Dan Freeman ("D") was one of my <closest> friends for over 30 years, starting from our earliest days at college, and then throughout our business partnership, which began in 1995. He passed away before his time and he'll be <dearly> missed. In his memory, I will do my utmost to honor his vision for this community from this moment forward.

<ChessGames.com> was a <labor of love> for Dan, and will stand as one of his greatest legacies, and I will be <attempting> to fill Dan's <large> shoes by assuming administration of the site and database for the time being.

Much of the <Chessgames.com> site's functionality is <not> documented, and was known only to Dan, but a good bit has become familiar to me as I've assisted him at various times since its inception. Additionally, Dan and I acquired similar skill sets over the decades. Nonetheless, I ask that everyone <please> bear with me while I begin this daunting process, which will be immensely <challenging>, to say the very least.

Peace be with you, Dan.

Best regards,
Sargon>

Lovely words <Sargon>, appreciated. I'm very shocked by this news :(
